Hiring!!! We are looking for a few fun and energetic people who love the outdoors and working with children. We are Into the Forest Outdoor Learning Center and Preschool, Spokane's first nature-based outdoor preschool. We believe children learn best when they are not confined to indoor spaces and forced to sit, to learn. And also, through experiences of touching, moving, listening, and observing and have control over the direction of their learning. A child's Self-confidence and self-esteem are built when they can explore and make their own decisions while being supported by their peers and teachers. We let children self-engage in activities that we have set out, that have a specific skill set that we are teaching. After they engage in the activities, we as teachers sit with them and expand on what they are learning. We spend at least 50% of the day outside in all weather and bring all the learning activities that we do inside, outside. We are looking for several team members for full and part-time positions that will fit with our teaching style. Part time postion would be m-f 12pm-5/5:30pm. Starting wages will range from $17.00-$20.00/hr depending on experience. First aid, CPR, TB test, and background check are required before starting. You must also complete the 110-300 WAC training and qualifications to be considered for the positions. Tutor/life coach wanted for a sweet 26 year old young man with autism who is a largely non-verbal communicator. Recruiting at any level to become part of a team for an innovative home-based program.. This young man is engaged and gentle, and can do basic self-care. However, he has difficulty initiating conversations and expressing himself, sequencing tasks, and evaluating risk when overwhelmed. He requires guidance for some self-care (not toileting), to develop his communication skills, stay on task with his chores, to access online educational programs which support pre-vocational training, and to participate in the community. Be part of an innovative multidisciplinary team implementing a new neurodevelopment model of integrated independent Day Treatment Programming and vocational training designed to support those severely impacted by autism and other neurological disorders. This young man aged out of school at 23 at K/Gr1 level because he was nonverbal. By implementing an integrated program guided by Naturalistic Developmental Behavioral approach using Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) principles and Rapid Prompt Method (RPM) -- a letterboard communication system, and online prevocational academics, we hav seen explosive growth and are helping him realize his goal of going to college. He is on an accelerated path and he has gone from Gr1-8 in less than 2 years. He is now at Grade 9 but needs a lot of backfilling so all subject areas and middle and high school level welcome. He has a 1:1 aid from 730am-9pm and works on both classes and school work several times over the day most days (he thrives on a consistent schedule). He wants to learn and his growing pride will melt your heart. Includes online and in person training in the letter board system, team meetings, and the support of a great team! Also, even those working part-time accrue sick time. Position requires a commitment of 2 or more 5 hr shifts a week, including one 5 hr weekend shift, although accommodations can be made for 1-2 hr tutoring only shifts (allowing more time for his letter boarding).
