Part Time Preschool Teacher Aid (Honolulu)

Seeking Home School Teachers for Two Kids Duration: Whenever You’re free in 1.5-4 hour blocks Location: At our House - Paiko Peninsula Area Ages of Girls: 6 years old and 4 years old Hourly Rate: negotiable based on experience Subjects to cover : math, English, music, Art, swimming Our girls are in the process of learning English, so we hope to expose them to as many people as possible. We home school them, so we are constantly searching for teachers who are of like mind. We are looking for teachers who have experience working with young kids. Again, we have a 6 and a 4 year old. The teacher can choose to teach the kids separately or together. The teacher would be required to bring their own materials. We are hoping to try this out until end of November. We will open our house to the teachers. At least one adult will be present in the house at any one point in time. Hawaii Academy of Arts and Science PCS seeks the following positions for the 2025-2026 school year: Elective Instructor - Hawaiian Language Grades 9-12 Tue and Thu 12:30-2:00 + 30 min prep Elective Instructor - Hawaiian Studies Grades K-6 and/or 7-8 To be determined based on school needs and applicant/employee availability. Summary: Plans, organizes and implements appropriate Hawaiian Language or Hawaiian Studies instruction in a learning environment that guides and encourages students to develop and fulfill their potential. Creates and delivers instruction. Develops and expands curriculum. Monitors student progress. Communicates with students and parents. Hawaiian Studies position participates in developing a Hawaiian culture program and activities including Ho’ike and Makahiki. Education, Experience and Qualifications: Relevant experience working with school age children. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Hawaiian Language: Must be proficient in Hawaiian Language. Hawaiian Studies: Requires travel to multiple sites. Requires valid driver license, satisfactory traffic abstract and access to a registered insured vehicle. Must be ethical and honest. Must have excellent interpersonal, organizational, time management, follow-through, and oral and written communication skills. Must be extremely flexible and able to work independently. Must be knowledgeable and comfortable working with technology and software programs, and be able to acquire additional skills for use of software, databases or other information systems as necessary. Job Description Spend 2-4 hours in the afternoon, up to 5 days per week working with a bright, spirited, high functioning Down Syndrome high school student. Help him fulfill fitness/exercise goals, learn basic life skills, and get out to have interesting experiences in the community on a daily basis after school. Understand and work to achieve developmental goals set by the parents while acting as a safe and positive presence for the individual as he navigates the community. Provide feedback to parents and actively engage in identifying challenges and new areas for growth and development. Get to know the student as a person and understand what motivates him and find positive ways to engage with him to support his and parents’ goals. Provide a consistent level of discipline and set strong boundaries to maintain the level of authority needed to drive results. Encourage and foster autonomy and independence in the individual as he prepares to transition into adult life. Desired Skills -Training/experience as a case worker, caregiver or applied behavior analyst -Experience working with individuals with DS and/or similar individuals with comparable disabilities -Competency in caring for and managing individuals with some degree of cognitive impairment and developmental delay -High school education required, college education desirable -Access to a car on a daily basis and valid drivers license Conditions -2-4 hours per day, up to 5 days per week after school -Some driving will be required, including after-school pick-ups and transfer of student to various locations and parents’ homes -Commitment to a specific duration of employment will be preferred to avoid disruption of services
