We are sourcing candidates for a Civil Designer position in our Scranton office designing site plans for land development projects. Work independently and collaboratively on planning, design, and/or research on conventional civil engineering projects. Produce drawings using computer aided drafting systems Auto Cad and Civil 3D. Evaluate, analyze, interpret, select, and apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria for civil engineering projects. The Sr. Systems Engineer's primary role will involve the development of electro-mechanical systems, system architecture, and the accompanying documentation in accordance with established quality system procedures. You will collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams to fulfill product and project requirements, engaging with engineers from diverse companies and industries. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: · Develop and establish internal requirement sets and assist customers in formulating user requirements when necessary. · Contribute to the formulation of the risk management plan and associated reports. · Aid in the creation, review, and documentation of risk analyses. · Assist in the development of a Hazard Analysis as needed. · Ensure that product verification and validation are conducted, maintaining traceability for all requirements. · Facilitate and coordinate interdisciplinary technical discussions within project teams. · Oversee the coordination and documentation of system-level analyses, which includes system modeling, algorithm development, simulations, and system architecture. · Act as the main technical point of contact for customers on various projects. · Take responsibility for the technical project scope and associated efforts. · Participate in initiatives aimed at identifying and implementing technology reuse. · Engage in technical design reviews throughout the product realization process. · Assist in assessing technical talent. · Identify technical training needs and tools for the systems engineering team. · Contribute to the identification and protection of Nextern's intellectual property. Requirements · A Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or an Engineering field. · A Master's degree in Engineering is an advantage. · At least five years of experience is required, preferably in the medical device industry, focusing on systems engineering. · Familiarity with system designs that adhere to IEC 60601, ISO 13485, ISO/EN 14971, and IEC 62304 standards is essential. · Experience with requirements management tools will be considered a plus. · Proficiency with modeling tools such as Matlab and Simulink is desirable. · Understanding of the FDA 510(k), PMA, and De Novo pre-market submission procedures is advantageous. · Experience in developing Class II and III medical devices is beneficial. About the Job  In this role, you will lead and support spacecraft and payload AI&T activities at our Goleta, California site and at customer locations both domestically and internationally. You will develop and execute hardware and software integration and test plans, along with the necessary test equipment, to provide innovative solutions for our customers. Support assembly, integration, and testing of Umbra space products at Umbra sites. Become an expert in Umbra products, including spacecraft, payloads, and ground systems. Conduct electrical, mechanical, and software integration and troubleshooting. Develop and implement hardware and software test procedures and documentation. Build and deploy ground support equipment and special test equipment (GSE and STE). Conduct on-site system-level testing. Support Umbra customers and train end users for testing and operations. Periodic travel is required to support integration, testing, and troubleshooting activities and campaigns at Umbra in Santa Barbara and customer sites, both domestic and international. Expected level is around 25% with some durations longer than a week. Perform other assigned professional duties. Requirements Required Qualifications Bachelor of Science in Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, or equivalent experience. 5-8+ years of relevant technical experience. Strong understanding of spacecraft and payload subsystems. Demonstrated experience with integration, testing, launch, and operations. Experience with flight software, test software, and end to end system testing. Demonstrated experience with hardware software troubleshooting and anomaly resolution. Strong interpersonal skills to interact effectively with customers and Umbra staff. Good communication skills, ability to collaborate in a team, documentation, and willingness to learn new technologies. Comfortable working in a dynamic, fast-paced development environment. The final offer will also be influenced by the candidate's skills, responsibilities, and relevant experience. Compensation Range The Compensation Range for this role is $140,000 - $190,000 DOE.
