This position is responsible for assisting in the operation of department. An individual in this position will be expected to perform additional job-related responsibilities and duties throughout the facility as assigned and or as necessary. In addition to the responsibilities below, the DDC Systems Specialist III performs routine and complex technical duties in troubleshooting and repairing of components within building automation field cabinets, sensors, and related controls. They may work under the supervision of a higher-level building automation technician and are expected to maintain all responsibilities and attributes of lower-level technicians. This role will work out in the field. Essential Functions: An individual must be able to successfully perform the essential functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation. Troubleshoot and make necessary repairs to building-automation-system field cabinets, including communication devices, printed circuit boards, power supplies, electrical/electronic controls, sensors, and transducers. Safely perform point-to-point checkout per department standards, e.g., use multimeter to check continuity and/or resistance of sensors, verifying sensors with calibrated meters, breaking connection at end devices to verify IO channel assignments, verifying valve stroke and fail positions, etc. Mentor lower-level technicians to maintain these standards. Take initiative and responsibility for the checkout of end devices, module configuration, and troubleshooting network related issues. Responsible for the startup of simple to complex automation systems and mechanical equipment. Understands various protocols that may be integrated into the building automation system. Able to make complex program and graphic changes to meet specification and sequence. Have a thorough understanding of various protocols that may be integrated into the building automation system. Communicate technical issues to management, project managers and/or more senior level technicians. Maintain field markups, and coordinate field markups from lower-level techs. Able to document, demonstrate and exercise systems for third party commissioning support and testing. Provide project demonstration and training as required for customers. Report to work on time and ready to perform assigned tasks. Perform necessary database tasks such as backups, clippings, troubleshooting and exporting of files. Maintain company tools, test equipment, and material. Create thorough daily reports, per project or daily duty, and submit to Albireo project team and Operations Supervisor. Mentors and sets a good example for lower-level technicians. Attends and contributes to project meetings, as necessary. Looks for opportunities to keep the project moving forward. Communicate with jobsite personnel from other trades to complete project objectives. Take part in solutions-based discussions with owners and project stakeholders both inside and outside the company. Drive employee engagement, training, and development in the key areas of safety, quality, and productivity. Ensure that all quality and safety standards, specifications and policies are met, drive continuous improvements, and collaborate with the team to drive efficiencies. Requirements Equivalent experience, vocational school, or an Associate degree in electronics, mechanical systems, computer technology, air conditioning or similar field is preferred. Experience in high-availability environments like data centers, hospitals, or government facilities. Familiarity with the Johnson Controls product line and software suite is a preferred but not required. Self-starter attitude that is inquisitive, intuitive and has a willingness to learn and grow. New Logic manufactures and sells industrial filtration equipment that uses polymeric membranes to provide specific separations. Mostly, this involves filtering water or wastewater for industrial use. The filtration systems are fully automated and are controlled by a programmable Logic Controller (PLC). These systems run autonomously and are monitored by an operator. The systems include pumps, pneumatic valves, instrumentation, and speed controllers for all the motors. Interested customers will send a small sample amount of liquid for testing at New Logic’s research lab. If the initial feasibility is verified, testing is normally continued on a larger scale at the customer’s facility. After pilot testing, the customer may place an order for a large system that would go into fabrication. We have an opening for an automation and controls person who can create, edit, and test Allen Bradley and/or Siemens control software. The work would include dialogue with the customer and probable integration with their existing plant controls. We currently use Auto-Cad, Inventor, Graphite, Adobe Illustrator, Excel, Allen Bradley, Siemens, and other software programs. During final wet testing of the system, the automation program is loaded and then thoroughly tested to make sure all the sub-routines are functioning correctly. The work may involve some travel for commissioning.
