Ocean Park Inn Job Title: Hotel Security Guard Department: Security Reports to: FOM & General Manager Must work Friday and Saturday nights The Ocean Park Inn is located at the end of Grand Avenue in Pacific Beach, San Diego. The property sits directly on the boardwalk, steps from the beach in an ideal location. There are 71 rooms set on three floors, surrounding a pool and Jacuzzi; additionally, there is an underground garage for our guests. Many people come to the Pacific Beach area on evenings and weekends, frequenting the handful of restaurants, lounges, and beaches in our direct vicinity. The hotel is family owned, and the owners and managers alike promote a very friendly, personal atmosphere. Therefore as an employee, schedules are flexible, suggestions for improvements are always welcome, and a business-casual environment is the norm. Duties include, but are not limited to: - Serve as deterrent to crime and rule violations by constantly patrolling hotel premises; - Provide guests with assistance in security and life safety matters; - Respond to all calls for service; - Patrol guest and associate areas, noting any problems or unusual activity; - Follow and enforce all security standard operating procedures; - Enforcing parking requirements - Ensure that any undesirable persons are effectively handled without interrupting the flow of hotel operations; - Note any safety hazards and take appropriate measures to report and rectify problems; - Assist the hotel during disasters or emergencies; - Report any and all security breaches to manager on duty; - Write correct and concise security reports; - Communicate with a 2-way radio; - Taking digital pictures of problems or breaches in hotel policy Minimum Qualifications Potential candidates must be able to lead by example. Security officers are ambassadors of the hotel and interact with internal and external guests alike. Therefore, it is imperative they are honest, dependable and foster open lines of communication. Most importantly, candidates must be professional and represent themselves as such. - Clear, pleasant and intelligible telephone voice; - Command of the English language; - Excellent hearing; - Able to stand/patrol for elongated periods of time; - Able to exercise a high degree of human relations and tact when dealing with future hotel guests and associates. *** MUST HAVE A GUARD CARD *** Required Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence and memos, ability to write detailed security and incident reports, ability to effectively present one-on-one and small group situations to guests, clients, and other staff members of the organization and hospitality community. *** MUST HAVE A GUARD CARD *** Pay Rate: $19/hr to start (based on experience) Hours: Full time and Part time Shifts Requirements: Night shifts (Shift hours are either 8pm to 4am /or 7pm to 3am)
