$638 Montavilla - Room in badass nerd house available (Montavilla)

address87TH SE Lincoln Ct, Portland, OR 97236, USA

Description

Greetings! We are Indigo and Madie, two nerds looking for a roommate to join our home in Southeast Portland. About the house: - We are located north of SE Division, near Interstate 205, in the Harrison Park neighborhood. Easy walk to the park and several restaurants, short drives to Mall 205, WinCo, Eastport Plaza, and Mount Tabor. For those who take public transit (which one roommate already does!), the Green Line, 72, and FX2 are all easy walking distance away, with the 15 nearby as well. - Move-in date is October 1st, although we're willing to be flexible for the right person. Deposit+Rent is due on move-in, deposit is equal to one month's rent. - Rent is $637.50 a month, plus utilities. Internet is $26.66 per person per month, and electricity+water+gas averages $145 a month (A little higher or lower depending on usage, central heating in the winter makes the electric bill go up) - The room is on the ground floor, and measures 12ft by 9ft. The attached images show the room, currently used for Madie's crafting- it will be empty by the time you move in. You will share a bathroom with one other person. We have a big back yard, two refrigerators, a dishwasher, and a washer and dryer + plenty of storage space in the basement. We have central heating, but not A/C. (Your room gets the most shade from the sun, however!) - We have a two-car garage and only Madie owns a car, so the second space is available for you! - Sadly, our landlord does not allow pets. Our priority as a household is to be respectful of the space and each other. We don’t expect perfection- any two humans with shifting moods and individuality will butt heads once in a while. But our hope is that if a disagreement crops up, it will be communicated respectfully as we figure it out together. As for chores, we clean up rooms as we use them each day, and share responsibility for household chores like emptying the dishwasher, mopping the floor, etc. The Roommates: About Indigo: Indigo is a masc-presenting nonbinary pal in their mid 30s. They work variable shifts as support staff at 6 different theaters in the Portland area, and as a result, they are always tired. Excited about life, but often tired. Indigo loves to cook, and will probably ask you to try some new recipe of theirs at some point. They're also a huuuuge nerd with interests ranging from puns to Magic: The Gathering to Lego to the Lion King to The West Wing. As a roommate, Indigo tends to keep to themselves a decent chunk of the time, but still enjoys group activities like a game or movie night, or just hanging out and chatting over dinner. Anytime you wanna hang, just ask! At some point they will inevitably ask you to try food they're making, either because they feel compelled to share, or because they need feedback on a new recipe. Communication is extremely important to Indigo- set clear boundaries and they will be respected. If any issues crop up, they’ll do what they can to work things out respectfully and ask that you do the same. About Madie: 27 female. I'm very clean and organized, I work in healthcare Mon-Fri, I work from home two days a week and my set up is upstairs and I wear headphones so I won’t be a disturbance if you are also home at that time. I love crafting so I will usually be doing that or studying as I’m also in school currently until summer. I’m respectful of my roommates and ask for the same respect in return. If there’s ever an issue please communicate, I pride myself on being a good listener and an understanding person. Best part about living with me is if you ever need something crafted/handmade or need someone to hem your jeans, I can do that! About you: First and foremost, we are a progressive, queer/trans/LGBTQ+ friendly and neurodivergent, household looking for a like minded roommate who shares our values and is committed to keeping our living space safe for ourselves and any guests that might be a part of vulnerable communities. We are committed to keeping our home free of hate speech or bigotry, and are not willing to tolerate any agenda that supports such things. Beyond that, please be respectful, proactive in your communication, willing to do your part with chores to maintain shared spaces, and have a stable income. Bonus personality traits include having shared interests we can nerd out with you about, but it’s not required. If this sounds like a good fit to you, let us know! We’d love to meet you. Email us and tell us a bit about yourself, and why you think you might be a good fit. And to root out the bots: please put your favorite form of cooked potato in the subject line.
