To maintain product quality the inspector must be able to read blueprints and other written specifications, use standard measuring devices, follow production procedures and instructions, and record information as required. Inspectors mark, tag, or note problems on products per company procedures. Inspectors document all nonconforming products. If the product is acceptable, the inspector certifies it.  Materials inspectors check products by sight, sound, or feel to locate imperfections such as cuts, scratches, and missing pieces.
