SUMMARY and PURPOSE To administer our comprehensive competency restoration program that responds to the Department State Hospitals needs and supports the organization's overall mission, philosophy, and goals; to integrate the management of the IST program in the behavioral health system's continuum of care for those found Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST). The Competency Restoration Program Director at BBHH is responsible for directing the operations, strategic planning, and business development of the IST service line. This role involves collaborating with Medical and Clinical Leadership, BBHH leadership, Department of State Hospitals, and the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) to ensure that BBHH’s goals are achieved. The Director will lead initiatives aimed at improving patient care, satisfaction, and operational efficiency, while also maintaining safety and compliance standards. • Member of the hospital leadership team. • The position requires presence during hospital business hours five days a week and availability for additional hours as needed to oversee the programming for those Incompetent to Stand Trial (IST) • Routine presence in patient care areas. • The role involves working in a dynamic and fast-paced healthcare environment. Requirements WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR Simply put: HUMANS WHO CARE Though we do need to meet some minimum requirements for the position such as a Master's Degree in Psychiatric or Mental Health Nursing, Healthcare Administration, Social/Clinical Services, Nursing, or other related field and a current California Psy. D, LCSW, LMFT, or RN License, we're really looking for people who bring their HEART to work. If you have previous senior leadership experience in a mental healthcare hospital environment where your attention was focused on human behavior, psychiatry, psychology, or other mental healthcare situations, your application to this position will be moved to the shortlist of candidates. Someone capable of displaying basic knowledge of treatment procedures in Behavioral Health interventions common to acute psychotic as well as non-violent crisis intervention practice; A person with basic knowledge of abnormal psychology as typically found in the adult Incompetent to Stand Trial psychiatric population, application of this knowledge to medical terminology, especially those terms associated with psychiatric care; Someone with a thorough familiarity of psych pharmacy and the use of psychotropic medications in the psychiatric population, basic teaching and training skills helpful; problem-solving; An organized individual with exceptional organizational and time management in healthcare administration Operational Leadership of the patient milieu management and patient experience Directs all aspects of the strategic planning and business relationship for the IST service line.
