Environmental Engineer (PE)/Project Manager

A Building Code Consultant works regularly with applicable building codes and standards in both the design and construction fields.  As a member of the Building Code & Life Safety Services group this position will require working collaboratively with other staff to review and interpret the code for the purpose of providing plan review, inspection and general code consultation.  Job duties will include working independently on reviews, participation in internal review meetings and attendance at client and jurisdictional meetings. Direct interaction with clients and participate in business develop activities may be necessary but is not required. Responsibilities Perform code reviews, Perform code inspections, Prepare written reports, Provide code opinions based on experience and available resources, Communicate with clients and applicants to facilitate open dialog is necessary to bring code comments to resolution, Prepare proposals and assist in business development, Prepare and present presentations on code related topics, Perform reviews and quality control on deliverables. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in architecture, engineering or science fields is preferred. 2+ years of experience in architecture, engineering or municipal code enforcement. NYS Code Enforcement Certification is preferred. ICC Certifications are preferred. We are seeking a junior-level Environmental and Permitting Specialist for gas and electric distribution, transmission, and substation utility projects. This position will be in our Environmental Permitting and Compliance Group and based out of a client’s office in Rochester, NY, with the ability for some hybrid work. The position will mainly be officed-based with occasional fieldwork. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of permitting, planning, or environmental experience and be a highly motivated worker with a willingness to work both independently and on a team. The position will require someone who is willing to manage a variety of different tasks and projects simultaneously. Preference to candidates who already have experience managing projects or individual tasks independently. Duties Manage all permitting and environmental tasks on utility projects (e.g. wetland/stream impacts, stormwater, threatened and endangered species, historical/cultural impacts, rights-of-way, railroads, municipal, Article VII/VIII, Part 102, Article 10/94c, etc.). Provide in-field project oversight, as applicable to environmental and permitting tasks. Organizational and multitasking skills are a must while working in a fast-paced environment.
