Description

We are seeking a junior-level Environmental and Permitting Specialist for gas and electric distribution, transmission, and substation utility projects. This position will be in our Environmental Permitting and Compliance Group and based out of a client’s office in Rochester, NY, with the ability for some hybrid work. The position will mainly be officed-based with occasional fieldwork. The ideal candidate will have 3-5 years of permitting, planning, or environmental experience and be a highly motivated worker with a willingness to work both independently and on a team. The position will require someone who is willing to manage a variety of different tasks and projects simultaneously. Preference to candidates who already have experience managing projects or individual tasks independently. Duties Manage all permitting and environmental tasks on utility projects (e.g. wetland/stream impacts, stormwater, threatened and endangered species, historical/cultural impacts, rights-of-way, railroads, municipal, Article VII/VIII, Part 102, Article 10/94c, etc.). Provide in-field project oversight, as applicable to environmental and permitting tasks. Organizational and multitasking skills are a must while working in a fast-paced environment. Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Independently manage tasks and meet project deliverable schedules while simultaneously working as part of a team. Environmental permitting experience preferred. Requirements BS or MS in Environmental Science, Biology, Geology, Environmental Engineering, Planning, or related field of study. Willingness to work in a fast-paced setting. Exceptional verbal and technical written communication skills are essential as well as time management skills.
