Position Overview: We are seeking a talented and passionate Front-End Engineer to join our growing team based in Washington, D.C. As a Front-End Engineer, you will be instrumental in driving the success of our products through front-end expertise, connecting Figma designs and prototypes to clean, succinct React code. Your role will encompass the utilization of front-end experience to update and maintain multiple front-end codebases as well as the creation of high-impact component libraries to be used throughout each of our products. Key Responsibilities Front-End Expertise: Build and maintain multiple projects within the Cary Health sphere, ensuring the drive and completion of high-visibility initiatives in React, HTML, CSS, Javascript, and Typescript. Translate UI/UX designs into responsive, clean code, handling edge cases and errors in stride. Code Scalability & Maintainability : Optimize code for quality, using techniques such as lazy loading, placeholder skeletons, and caching to ensure a pleasant user experience. Maintain and evolve front-end architecture to support long-term scalability. Write clean, well-tested code, following best practices and team conventions. Quality Assurance: Conduct code reviews to maintain code quality, consistency, and best practices. Perform testing and debugging to identify and resolve issues in a timely manner. Communication & Collaboration: Collaborate cross-functionally with designers, back-end developers, and product managers to ensure seamless integration of requirements. Document technical decisions, patterns, and components to improve team alignment and future onboarding. Contribute front-end insights that balance feasibility, performance, and user experience. Promote a collaborative culture by encouraging open discussion of code and outcomes. Requirements Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field. Proven experience as a Front End Developer or similar role, with at least 2-5 years of relevant work experience. Proficiency in front-end technologies like HTML5, CSS6, JavaScript (ES6+), Typescript, and modern front-end frameworks (React, Angular, etc.). Familiarity with state management libraries (e.g., Redux, Context API, or similar). Experience researching, finding, and integrating open-source libraries into a working project. Ability to integrate RESTful APIs and GraphQL services into front-end code, ensuring efficient communication between different components of a web application. Ability to write unit and integration tests using tools like Jest and React Testing Library. Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows. Understanding of web security principles and best practices, ensuring the development of secure and robust web applications. Strong communication and teamwork abilities, with a passion for learning and sharing knowledge Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with cross-functional teams Flexibility to adapt to changing priorities and work schedules as needed Demonstrated can-do attitude and a commitment to delivering high-quality service Candidates must be authorized to work in the United States to be eligible to apply for this position. Distinguishing Qualifications Strong experience working with React and the ability to architect and develop complex, interactive user interfaces using React features such as hooks, suspense, and concurrent mode. Experience with advanced TypeScript features (e.g., generics, utility types, advanced typings). Experience with TailwindCSS and its capabilities. Contributions to open-source projects or active participation in front-end communities. Prior experience working on one or more component libraries, creating component variants and integrating them into different codebases. Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and cloud computing platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud). Proven track record of collaborating with cross-functional teams, including designers, product managers, and other developers, to deliver high-quality solutions. Experience with Agile development methodologies, such as Scrum or Kanban, and the ability to work in an iterative and collaborative development environment. Participation in open-source projects or contributions to the developer community, showcasing a passion for learning and sharing knowledge. Working Conditions Office and pharmacy environments experience moderate temperatures and humidity, which may fluctuate. Please note this role is based in our D.C. office, with 2 in-office days and 3 remote days per week. Physical Requirements Sitting for extended periods at a desk while working at a computer. Repetitive movements, such as typing and using a mouse. Use one or two hands and/ or fingers to grasp, move, or assemble objects. Travel Requirements This position may require occasional travel to attend conferences, trade shows, business meetings, or to support operations at other locations. Travel frequency, duration, and mode will depend on business needs and will be communicated in advance whenever possible. Candidates should be comfortable with: Traveling up to 10% of the time. Overnight stays when necessary. Following company travel policies and procedures. Adapting to varying travel schedules, including potential weekend or evening travel, as required. Note: Travel expenses will be reimbursed in accordance with company policies.
