B.L. Builders hiring skilled carpenters/lead carpenters

B.L. Builders is a small homebuilding and remodeling company based in central Vermont. We are looking for skilled carpenters as we take on more builds in the coming years. We work predominantly in the Montpelier area, but occasionally travel to Stowe or the Mad River Valley. We are a company who understands the complexity of life’s schedule, and take pride in being able to work flexibly around parenting responsibilities, transportation needs, appointments, and any other factors that come with a life well lived. With the right communication, we can make most schedules work, provided our core tenets of professionalism, fine workmanship, and good communication are met. We work Monday-Thursday, 7am-5pm 4+ years of full time homebuilding experience preferred Carpenter applicants should be proficient the following areas and be able to perform these tasks with little to no instruction. -be able to back frame a wall plate if laid out -build headers off a schedule -cursory plan reading -string and true a wall -install wall/roof/deck sheathing, including establishing a starter course at agreed elevation -window/door install (new and existing construction) -vapor barrier install and taping (siga, intello, mento, etc) -soffit and facia instillation (1x square edge, nothing crazy) -siding instillation, ship lap, clapboard, board and batten -proficiency with range of measuring equipment -a firm grasp of basic roof and stair geometry, even if you haven't done much cutting Lead Carpenter applicants should be able to provide instruction and lead a crew on all the tasks listed above, in addition to many others, this list is only meant to provide a benchmark of skills necessary. This is a W2 position. $28-$33 Carpenters $34-36 lead carpenters, pay based on experience, and tools brought to the job. We provide all tools beyond your tool bags and drivers, but some choose to bring varying arsenals of personal tools to the site, your personal tools are welcome and will be considered in your hourly wage. We do not replace personal tools lost or broken on site. 10 days PTO a year $250/year boot allowance $250/year tool allowance All our job trailers have small heated break room with fridge/microwave for the winter days!
