Position Overview: ZEST Prep is seeking a school GA -licensed School Nurse (RN/LPN) to join its school operations team. In this role, the ideal candidate must have a working knowledge of Federal, State, and Local laws and regulations affecting the delivery of school health services, child development, educational principles, mental health services, and the principles of nursing. The school nurse must be able to exhibit a kind, patient, and caring manner, be able to communicate effectively with children and adults, and be flexible and organized. They should also be dependable, conscientious, and a team player. This role will report to the Director of Operations. Essential Duties and Responsibilities The following statements describe the general nature and scope of work performed by this position. This is not a complete listing of all responsibilities, duties, and/or skills required. Other duties may be assigned. School custodians perform daily checks and ensure that all tools and equipment work properly and supplies are available for operations. Submit supply requisitions for tools, equipment, supplies, and other materials to maintain the building and grounds. Receives, stores, and issues all supplies delivered to the school or facility. School custodian independently plans work methods to use, assigns designated work locations, develops shift schedules, and makes assignments in accordance with the employee's personal skills and abilities. Custodian performs other supervisory responsibilities as follows: Provides direct health services to students, including assessment, treatment and referral for illness or injury. Administrator medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed by healthcare providers and in accordance with school policies. Performs respiratory assessment;performs tracheostomy care, if needed. Implementation of communicable disease control in the school, including monitoring, surveillance, and participating in disease prevention and outbreak management within the school. Reports to parents, school personnel, physicians, and clinics, and other agencies on school health matters. Maintains up-to-date student health records. Observes students on a regular basis to detect health needs. Works one one one with assigned students; potential support on off-site school related activities. Maintains responsibility for emergency care of students. Advises on modification of the education program to meet health needs of individual students. Prepares and submit reports for the Executive Leadership Team. Conducts in-service training for staff and coordinates the establishment of guidelines, procedures, and training in First Aid/CPR/First Responder Program for schools and staff. Participate in the development of the school’s emergency health and crisis plan. Conducts hearing and vision screenings Interpret health mandates, recommendations and trends to school personnel through written materials, meetings, etc. Promote health through education and counseling. School-level COVID-19 designated contact. Performs other duties as assigned Additional Requirements Manage multiple tasks, projects, and responsibilities Ability to apply critical thinking skills in rendering solutions to various problems Must be able to collaborate effectively with District and school personnel, stakeholders, and work with a diverse group of people. Knowledge School health law and policy. Knowledge of special education legislation and services. Computer literate preferred. Ability to follow written instructions. Ability to follow oral instructions.
