Compensation: $49,108.80 /yr Worksite Location: South Campus Overview / Job Summary: The Faculty for Patient Care Technician (PCT) & Phlebotomy/EKG is responsible for planning, coordinating, and delivering high-quality instruction in the PCT program. This includes creating lesson plans, assessing student performance, and collaborating with healthcare professionals to ensure that the curriculum meets current industry standards. Knowledge of the following curriculum is vital- CLIA waived laboratory testing, highly skilled in venipuncture and capillary draws, order of draw, laboratory safety and infection control, electrocardiography procedures (12 lead EKGs), 5-step rhythm interpretations (rhythm, rate, p wave, PR interval, and QRS duration).    The intent of this position is to prepare students to become skilled and competent Patient Care Technicians and Phlebotomy/EKG Technicians. Your day-to-day responsibilities will vary, but are not limited to: Creating and uploading appropriate course syllabi for each course to the Learning Management System. Keeping students informed and updated concerning course content, requirements, evaluation procedures, and attendance requirements. Maintaining accurate academic records, including grading, census rosters, and attendance records. Evaluating student progress toward achieving course outcomes and competencies. Maintaining industry credentials as appropriate to the teaching area. Developing and recommending curriculum changes that enhance student learning outcomes. Ability to work with little supervision in various high schools. The instructor will foster a dynamic learning environment that supports student success, encourages engagement, and incorporates relevant clinical practices in health care. Requirements Education, Experience, Knowledge & Skills Needed: Must be at least 18 years of age, read, speak, and write the English language, required. Strongly prefer prior teaching experience, especially in high school education settings. Excellent verbal & written communication and interpersonal skills – must be able to work with students, technical and administrative personnel in a pleasant, professional, and efficient manner. Demonstrated knowledge and understanding of the healthcare field and regulations is preferred. Ability to apply technology as a teaching tool, specifically through the use of Learning Management Systems is preferred. Current certifications in Phlebotomy Technician, EKG Technician, or Medical Assisting are highly desired. Other Certifications considered- EMT/Paramedic, RN/LPN, Respiratory Therapist, or other medical certifications that possess the knowledge of venipunctures, laboratory testing, and electrocardiography technologies.  Associate's or bachelor's degree preferred. Residential Nurse Educator, Part Time
Residential Nurse Educator PART TIME.  20-30 HOURS BASED ON CANDIDATE’S AVAILABILITY. No on-call. No supervision of Approved Medication Assistive Personnel and No Personal Care Medical advocacy and case management. The Residential Nurse Educator serves as a resource for the clients in four community residences and the apartment program ensuring that significant medical needs are appropriately addressed with identified clients.  Our programs focus on transition to independent living.  Staff members support clients in learning to take their medications independently.  Specific duties included: Meet with new admissions (approximately 35 clients a year) and review medical history.  Ensure that all clients are linked with a Primary Care Physician and have their annual physical. Ensure that an appropriate plan of care is established and monitor the medical status of those identified clients who are medically compromised and/or who have significant physical health needs (approximately 15 clients). Attend medical appointments with clients who are experiencing chronic conditions, need assistance communicating their concerns to the physician or who may have difficulty interpreting/understanding what the physician may be trying to convey to them.  Act as a liaison with the medical providers when needed to obtain needed prescriptions, follow-up with questions or concerns, schedule appointments, etc. Coordinate post discharge care as needed for clients who have been hospitalized for medical reasons or who have had surgery.  Consult with program staff to address noted issues of concern regarding clients’ medical status and provide education related to case specific medical issues/needed follow-up care and monitoring. Facilitate the agency’s Health & Safety Committee which reviews and makes recommendations for those individuals who have more complex medical and/or psychiatric needs. Provide training to staff on related medical topics. Meet with clients who are reporting “minor” medical issues, displaying patterns of missing/refusing medications or who are high users of the Emergency Room.  Work creatively with program staff to develop strategies to reduce excessive Emergency Room use.     Complete nursing home referrals. Provide oversight of system used for the staff supervision of clients’ medications in the community residences to include training, auditing the system, providing feedback, and retraining staff members if needed.  Be a resource for staff if there are issues with ordering, timelining, counting, and documenting medications. Track follow-up medical appointments, ongoing medical information, and instructions for program staff in the electronic medical record and program logs.         Requirements Salary and Schedule of the Residential Nurse Educator 20-30 hours per week based on the candidate’s availability.
