The Masonic Homes of California is excited to offer our CNA training program to all qualified applicants. Through a strong partnership with Unitek, the Masonic Homes campus in Union City is now able to offer a full CNA training program that will jump start a career in healthcare. For qualified candidates, who join Masonic Homes, we offering a scholarship program that will cover tuition and other associated costs of the program. This will allow dedicated individuals to follow their passion without having to worry about added financial burden. CNA Training Program Program Overview NA100T-Nursing Assistant Theory This course introduces concepts of basic human needs, the health/illness continuum, and basic nursing skills and procedures required in the nursing assistant role. The theory and role of the nursing assistant working with various populations in long-term care facilities, as well as acute care settings, will be discussed. This course includes 60 hours of online instructor-led synchronous learning NA100L- Nursing Assistant Skills Lab This course introduces students to the various skills and procedures that are required to successfully show competency in order to become a certified nursing assistant in the state of California. It includes skills demonstrations, hands-on practice, instructor lead activities in a supervised laboratory setting, and orientation to a clinical setting. This course consists of 4 skills lab days. NA100C- Nursing Assistant Clinical Rotation This course introduces hands-on applications as they pertain to the basic human needs, health/illness continuum, and basic nursing skills introduced in NA100T. This course includes 100 hours of approved instructor lead clinical care of selected adult patients in a long-term care setting. Upon successful completion of these courses, candidates are eligible to take the State Competency Evaluation for Nursing Assistants. Students will be given the opportunity to test right in the skills lab setting by an approved vendor and approved evaluators. Individuals successfully completing this examination are placed on the California State Nursing Assistant Registry. Essential Functions: Assists residents to ensure their cleanliness, grooming, nourishment, rest, activity, mobility, transfer, and elimination is performed in a manner conducive to the residents’ safety and comfort in accordance to the residents’ plan of care. Recognizes and respects the individual emotional, social, and cultural needs of residents including their religious beliefs. Adapts care giving to build on individual resident strengths and abilities, using and modeling appropriate behavioral intervention techniques with residents. Keeps alert to residents’ condition and reports changes in the residents’ attitudes, appearance, behavior, and physical ability the Nurse in charge. Performs selected nursing procedures that do not require professional evaluation as assigned and instructed by the Nurse in charge. Practices conservation of equipment and supplies, keeping them clean and ready for use. Reports any equipment and supply needs to the Nurse in charge. Ensures that call lights/ alarms are within residents’ reach and promptly answers call signals. Anticipates residents’ needs and makes rounds routinely to assigned residents. Assists residents in their recreational activities, and as needed escorts residents throughout the facility. Assists in escorting residents to and from medical appointments as requested by the Pavilion Manager Keeps written notes of specific assignments and records pertinent information about the residents. Enters all appropriate resident data in the medical record timely and accurately. Communicates and cooperates with co-workers, residents, and other facility employees. Establishes good working relationships with all departments. Practices good teamwork. Accountable for maintaining a good record of attendance and punctuality. Accountable for following Masonic Homes safety policies. Conveys information in a concise, accurate, and understandable manner. Displays attentiveness, tact, and diplomacy in responding to others. Actively participates in meetings and education programs Requirements Requirements Ensures that residents’ rights to fair and equitable treatment, self determination, individuality, privacy, property, and civil rights, including the right to wage a complaint, are well established and maintained at all times. Maintains confidentiality of appropriate resident care information to assure their rights are protected. Reports all incidents/accidents, unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment immediately. Follows established safety rules and regulations. Maintains work area in a clean, orderly and safe manner.
