Lone Star Legal Aid (LSLA) seeks one Assistant to the Managing Attorney (BTN JP# 013-2025) for its Belton Branch Office. LSLA is a 501 (c) (3) non-profit law firm and its mission is to protect and advance the civil rights of low-income Texans by providing advocacy, legal representation, and community education that ensure equal access to justice. Summary of Responsibilities and Duties: The AMA candidate carries out general office and secretarial duties in the assigned unit. The AMA answers the telephone, takes accurate messages and/or routes callers to voice mail; prepares and types legal documents, reports, and attorney and office correspondence; schedules appointments and sets up hearings; develops and maintains an accurate systematic filing system; photocopies documents; posts and distributes mail and fax transmissions; greets visitors, clients, and applicants; and monitors unit or office reception area. Other Duties (As required by Unit or Branch Office) The AMA conducts preliminary client eligibility screening; maintains unit petty cash; maintains cost of court receipt book; orders unit supplies; transcribes documents from dictation or audio tape; if bilingual, interprets legal documents and correspondence; serves as a Notary Public; maintains office library; and is responsible for performing secretarial duties as assigned. Requirements Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent. Minimum Skills and Experience: This position requires a typing speed of at least 60 words per minute; strong client service orientation; and ability to work under pressure. Bilingual preferred. Location: Belton Branch Office. The successful applicant must have reliable transportation to travel throughout the counties served by this office.
