Description

Environmental Landscape Development is seeking a dedicated and skilled Master Gardener to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for supervising, overseeing and enhancing the quality of the landscapes under our care, providing expert advice on plant care, garden design, and sustainable horticulture practices. The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of California's native plants, climate, and soil conditions. This role involves working in various outdoor environments, utilizing both hand and power tools to maintain and enhance gardens, lawns, and other green spaces. Responsibilities: Oversees the work of gardening staff, ensuring the proper maintenance and upkeep of gardens and grounds. Perform groundskeeping tasks including mowing, trimming, and edging lawns. Plant, cultivate, and maintain various types of plants, flowers, shrubs, and trees. Operate power tools such as lawnmowers, trimmers, and blowers safely and efficiently. Utilize hand tools for planting, weeding, pruning, and general maintenance of garden areas. Manage irrigation systems to ensure proper watering of plants and landscapes. Conduct regular inspections of garden areas to identify pests or diseases and implement appropriate treatments. Collaborate with team members to design and implement landscape projects that enhance aesthetic appeal. Must be able to work alongside the various trades utilized by Environmental Landscape Development, Inc. (i.e. Landscape, Masonry, Carpentry, Electrical, etc.). Must always demonstrate basic safety guidelines. Qualifications: Minimum of 5 years of experience in garden design, landscape management, or related fields. Deep understanding of California’s climate, native plants, soil types, and environmental conditions. Expertise in integrated pest management, irrigation systems, and sustainable gardening practices. Strong communication skills, both verbal and written. Ability to work independently and as part of a team. Fluency in Spanish is a plus. Must be efficient in using basic electrical tools (Circular Saw, Reciprocating Saw, Jackhammer etc.), basic hand tools (Shovel Pick, Ax, etc.) and in operating basic gas powered tools (Chainsaw, Lawn Mowers, Edger, Blower, etc.) Dependability – Job requires being reliable, responsible, dependable, and accountable for fulfilling obligations. Attention to detail – Job requires being careful about detail and thorough in completing work tasks. Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions. Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds and perform physically demanding tasks. Valid driver’s license and Pesticide applicator license (if applicable) is a plus. Must have the ability to pass a drug test Preferred Qualifications: Certified Master Gardener, or equivalent advanced horticultural certification. Degree in Horticulture, Botany, or a related field is preferred. Portfolio of previous gardening/landscape work. She/he performs inspections, checks, tests, and sampling procedures according to the applicable instructions on maintenance and operation services, and on products during their manufacturing process. MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES The Industrial Quality Inspector assists in developing and implementation of quality management system QMS/ QAPP.
