Floorcare Technician REQUIRED: Must be Live scanned for a background check with the County of Los Angeles. Must have a valid CA driver's license with a good driving record. Job Summary Periodic advanced floor care duties to include stripping, dressing, buffing and waxing of hard floors, carpet extraction and shampooing, and terrazzo maintenance, and other projects as assigned.  Will use cleaning equipment, such as buffers, auto scrubbers and other floor machines, tools, products, and supplies necessary to accomplish tasks. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Know how to use rotary floor buffers and orbital floor machines Understand how to use multiple types of pads, and their uses Know how to use walk behind cleaning machines Understand how to clean corners and avoid splashing on baseboards and furniture Move furniture from rooms before stripping, waxing or cleaning Vacuum carpeted floor surfaces. Dry and wet mop hard-surface floors. Mix chemicals needed to perform duties. Performs periodic routine maintenance of equipment required to perform tasks. Ensure that all equipment is kept clean and report any malfunctions or safety hazards to the Supervisor.   Shampoo carpets Spray buff hard surface floors. Refinish hard surfaces.  Perform other duties as assigned. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES: To be successful in this position, the incumbent must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities: Understand English directions verbal and/or written instructions to communicate and interact effectively with supervisor, co-workers and customers.   Read, understand and follow work instructions, directions and safety rules and regulations. Have a good working knowledge of mixing and use of all chemicals needed to perform duties.  Have a good working knowledge of equipment use and maintenance required to perform tasks.  Work safely in accordance with company and job site safety procedures. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Occasionally required to kneel, climb and reach with hands and arms above shoulder level, Lift up to 60 pounds. Always required to wear the appropriate personal protective equipment for the task, which may include gloves, goggles, aprons, belts, non-slip shoes, etc.   WORK ENVIRONMENT: Employees are responsible for performing their duties in an environment that is free from discrimination, intimidation, coercion or harassment, including sexual harassment.  Work may be performed indoors, outdoors or both. As part of the job, the employee is regularly exposed to dirt, dust, disinfectants, solvents or cleaning chemicals. Noise level may be low to high depending on the equipment used. The employee may be required to report to more than one work site in a given shift. The employee must at all times adhere to the company’s and work site’s safety and environmental protection practices by performing work safely and in accordance with established standards.  Education and Experience:  Graduation from High School, GED or equivalent, preferred.  Six (6) months or more of related experience buffing and/or waxing wood, tile, terrazzo floor surfaces. REQUIRED BY EMPLOYEE: Purchase and wear slip resistant shoes for work.
