Meet “Herb” – my well-loved 1972 Volkswagen Transporter (Bus), owned by me since 2005 when purchased in Port Angeles. Herb has a ton of personality, a solid base, and a lot of new parts already in place. It’s not a showpiece (yet), but a great driver and a perfect candidate for someone who wants a running project to dial in. The Good: -Strong 2.0L engine (fresh install in 2009, less than 500 miles on it at the time) -Runs and drives with good compression -New tires, new brakes, new fuel lines, and a new battery -Custom interior with z-bed, storage, table, and custom door panels -Solid doglegs, floor, and battery tray (the usual rust areas are in good shape) -Comes with a bunch of new parts: distributor cap & points, self-retracting seatbelts, interior handles, new rag joint, shift bushings (center & rear) -Clean WA title in hand, with "Antique" plate (No Tab Renewals required!) The Not-So-Good: -Needs timing and a tune-up (currently backfires under heavy load in 3rd) -Paint and bondo work needs redoing -Window and door rubber needs replacing -Suspension needs attention: front suspension rebuild, rear shocks/bushings, axle boots, lower ball joints -Steering linkage needs tightening -Bumpers are dented and rusted -Blinkers not working (likely electrical, harness should be checked)Mileage: Unknown Herb isn’t perfect, but it's got heart, a strong engine, and a solid platform to build from. Bring a trailer or drive it home if you're local and mechanically inclined. Would love to see it go to someone who appreciates these old buses and wants to bring him back to his full potential.
