Seeking a full-time patent specialist. Responsibilities: Responsible for the preparation of IP documents; e-filing with the USPTO and other offices. Prepare legal correspondence and proofreading to ensure accuracy. Answer telephone calls, transfer calls to the appropriate staff and take messages in their absence. Maintain attorney’s docket and monitor deadlines Process bills; proof billing sheets; review and edit bills Arrange travel; process expenses; Daily mailing and filing responsibilities Requirements 2+ years of legal secretarial experience in the patent field. Comprehensive knowledge of US and foreign patent & trademark prosecution procedures Comprehensive knowledge in the preparation of IP documents; e-filing with the USPTO. Comprehensive knowledge of effective proofreading techniques. Comprehensive knowledge of MS office.

An international law firm is seeking an engineering patent agent to join their team. This person will work in the intellectual property group. The Patent Agent works with Patent Attorneys to secure patents by preparing, filing and prosecuting applications involving new inventions with the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office. We are a busy, well-established law practice based in Hudson, Morris and Somerset County. Our practice is focused on residential real estate, estate planning, and traffic ticket defense. Our team is looking for a motivated new attorney or recent law school graduate awaiting bar results who wants to gain hands-on experience across multiple practice areas. The position is per diem, however the right candidate will have every opportunity to build that role into a consistent case load. This is not a “sit in the corner and observe” position. You’ll work directly with clients, attend closings, draft key documents, and appear in court—all while receiving guidance and mentorship from two experienced partners who are committed to helping you develop as a well-rounded attorney.
