You will be responsible for a full range of hair care services and will play a vital role in the day-to-day success and upkeep of the salon. Key Responsibilities & Core Job Duties Perform high-quality hair services, including but not limited to: Professional consultations to understand and advise clients on their hairstyling needs. Precision and creative haircuts for women, men, and children. Expert hair styling, including blowouts, updos, thermal styling, and special occasion hair. Advanced hair coloring techniques such as balayage, foiling, color melts, root touch-ups, and all-over color. Chemical treatments, including keratin treatments, relaxers, and permanent waves (if applicable). Build and maintain a loyal client base through excellent service, client retention efforts, and relationship management. Provide clients with professional recommendations for at-home hair care products, boosting retail sales. Stay current on the latest industry trends, techniques, and styles through continuous education. Maintain a professional appearance and demeanor that reflects the salon's brand. Salon Operations & Support Tasks (When Not with a Client) A successful salon runs on teamwork. All stylists are expected to contribute to the salon's cleanliness, organization, and overall atmosphere. These tasks are just as crucial as your work behind the chair. Salon Cleanliness & Sanitation: Maintain a clean and organized personal station at all times. This includes sweeping hair, wiping down surfaces, and sanitizing chairs. Disinfect all tools (combs, brushes, clips, scissors) and equipment according to state board regulations after every use. Assist in general salon cleaning duties, including sweeping common areas, cleaning the shampoo bowls, and tidying the color bar/dispensary. Help with laundry services, including washing, drying, and folding towels and capes. Ensure restrooms are tidy and stocked. Help other team members to take care of clients like shampoo...etc Inventory & Stocking: Restock your station with necessary supplies (foils, gloves, cotton, etc.) at the end of your shift. Assist in restocking retail shelves to ensure they are full, front-facing, and dust-free. Help with inventory counts of professional backbar products and retail items as needed. Notify management when professional or retail products are running low. Front Desk & Client Support: Assist the front desk team by answering phones, booking appointments, and checking clients in or out during peak times. Greet all clients entering the salon with a warm and friendly welcome. Offer beverages to waiting clients. Team & Growth: Support your fellow stylists. Offer to help with shampooing, blow-drying, or clean-up if a teammate is running behind schedule. Participate actively in team meetings and educational workshops. Practice new techniques on mannequins or models during downtime to sharpen your skills. Contribute to the salon's social media presence by taking quality before-and-after photos/videos of your work (with client permission). Qualifications Cosmetology license is not required but valid and current Cosmetology License will be a plus. Minimum of 2+ years of experience working as a stylist in a salon environment. A strong portfolio of recent work (e.g., an Instagram profile or digital lookbook). Proficiency in a wide range of cutting, coloring, and styling techniques. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong customer service and consultation skills. Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
