Description

The Estimator analyzes all project documents to determine the overall estimated cost of a project. Estimators gather, calculate and compile data to produce construction cost estimates for competitive bid proposals in a timely manner. The Estimator is also required to perform a thorough and detailed turnover of awarded projects to the project management team. Reviews project plans and specifications and coordinates with the team to confirm a complete and coordinated scope Identify risk issues and their order of magnitude Manages responses to invitations to bid. Performs quantity takeoff. Participates in conceptual budgets with oversight from manager. Develops Tab Sheets (scopes of work), gather subcontractor proposals, and prepare bid tabulation for own trade assignments. Coordinates scopes of work with bid team. Author qualifications/exclusions specific for each assigned trade. Builds effective relationships subcontractors, suppliers, and user groups that reflect and support company core values and meets or exceeds the customer's expectations. Develop subcontractor relationships. Attend subcontractor networking events. Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or equivalent related work experience. Minimum of 5 or more years estimating or relevant project experience. Be proficient in all computer software programs used in estimating with particular emphasis on On-Screen Takeoff software. Possess strong mathematical and computer skills. Proficiency with all MS Office products (Word, Excel, Outlook). Some experience in one or more areas of Division 2-16. Position Description: The Estimator, will skillfully read and interpret plans, proposals and other documentation to develop bids and successfully negotiate budgets.  The Estimator will also be able to prepare and present estimate documentation, as well as, track and analyze data to reduce gaps between estimates and actual cost.  Essential Functions: Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, etc. to complete various checklist/spreadsheets related to a project. Review takeoff process with Jr Estimator and ensure the checklist/spreadsheets are created for the project. Compile counts/quantities to create bill of materials (BOMs) as part of the request for quote process (RFQ) Enter counts/quantities into estimating software. Review RFQs from material vendors and sub-contractors for scope discrepancies and accuracies. Manage in subcontractor outreach including good faith efforts.
