Description

At Swift Engineering, an Assembly Technician will be working closely with engineer(s), program manager(s) and other mfg. team members to assemble composite and metallic products and vehicles for Swift. FLSA Status: Non-Exempt (hourly) $24.00 to $31.00 Reports to: Manufacturing Manager Requirements Requires a High School Diploma or GED Personal experience using various hand tools associated with aerospace assembly work. Drilling Techniques – both free-hand and with drill fixture Trimming Techniques – both free-hand and with routing fixture Measuring – use of precision measuring devices such as calipers, gages, indicators, micrometers, etc. Personal experience working with aerospace fasteners, which includes proper hole sizing and torque application and verification of installation. Personal experience working with aerospace adhesives and resins, which include bond prepping, adhesive mixing, dry fitting, liquid-shimming, wet-bonding with fasteners and/or cleco’s, adhesive application Knowledge and experience working with advanced composite materials such as prepreg epoxy resins with carbon, fiberglass, and aramid processed to aerospace specifications Knowledge and experience working with adhesives, sealers, resins, bonding jigs, trim & drill fixtures, and oven curing. Knowledge and experience doing body work on irregular surfaces, including using filler materials, scuff sanding, applying primer and touch up paint as required. Teamwork: Work with other people in cooperation and as a good team member. Skills Required: Must have strong mechanical aptitude in mechanical assemblies. Industries such as marine, automotive, motorsport, aviation, aerospace and energy are relevant fields of experience. Speak, listen and write in a clear, thorough and timely manner. Take responsibility for workmanship and productivity. Skills Preferred: It is preferred that the candidate have experience in reading and interpreting work instructions, specifications sketches, job travelers, planning documents and engineering drawings. Under standard supervision applying trained procedures and collaborative solutions to meet work requirements. Priorities are determined by management. Preferred expertise with running industrial ovens, use pneumatic tools for trimming, drilling and bonding of hardware, use of technical devices for measurements. Working Conditions: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance and stoop, kneel, bend, crouch, or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. Requires eye-hand coordination and manual dexterity. Requires corrected vision and hearing to normal range. Equipment Operated: Vacuum pumps, heat sources, special hand tools, ladders, stands, mechanical stands, hi-reach lifts. Work Location: Open shop environment, occasionally in warehouse. Protective Equipment Required: Goggles, safety glasses, face shields, ear protection, aprons, gloves, safety harnesses, respirators, breathing equipment. Potential Hazards: Exposure to high intensity noise levels, extreme changes in temperature, airborne substances, materials identified on Material Safety Data Sheets, working on unprotected heights or around moving machinery.   Periodic weekend or evening work is expected.   Swift Engineering Inc is an Equal Opportunity Employer (EOE). JOB SUMMARY The Parts Finisher performs repetitive bench or line assembly operations to produce various types of specified products in addition to completing routine tasks of hand washing or operating the ultra-sonic wash machine to clean manufactured components.    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Deburs parts with tools such as deburring wheels, reamers, drills, sandpaper, scotchbrite, small files, or small pneumatic tools. Loads and unloads materials or parts from washer to specified area. Immerses objects in washing and rinsing solutions to remove debris. Washes parts in ultrasonic machine or solvent, dries parts, examines parts, removes debris. Measures and pours soap or chemical into wash water, set controls to regulate cycle of wash and water temperature. Inspects parts, some under microscope. Responsible for Heli-Coil installation Completes parts assembly (non-electronic parts) and packaging. Completes paperwork. Operates a pallet jack / other moving equipment. REQUIRED SKILLS / ATTRIBUTES Ability to communicate effectively with supervisor as needed. Ability to follow oral and written instructions. Ability to recognize and sort materials. Ability to operate machinery. Strong work ethic: Willing to work OT to meet tight deadlines as needed.   EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE Previous general labor experience in a machine shop environment preferred.
