Seeking caregiver for disabled adult (Fairfax)

We are looking for a competent & experienced Caregiver to care for our severely disabled adult daughter in a professional & compassionate manner. We are looking for coverage 98 hrs./week (6 am – 8 pm, 7 days/week). We are open to hiring more than 1 person and splitting shifts. The location is in Fairfax City, VA. The ideal candidate will be patient, friendly, reliable & have excellent communication skills. The client is a non-verbal 30 year old female with spastic quadriplegia cerebral palsy, epilepsy and special dietary requirements. Pay is set at $17.97/hour, and there are no benefits provided. Responsibilities • Provide assistance with all requirements of daily living, as shown below • Ensure clients take prescribed medication • Assist clients with frequent repositioning of body • Transfer client from floor to wheelchair, prone stander or shower chair, using Hoyer lift • Transport/accompany client to medical appts. • Change adult diaper roughly every two hours • Assist clients with personal care/hygiene needs, such as bathing, dressing, brushing teeth • Assist client by preparing and feeding pureed meals, as well as frequent liquids for hydration • Read books to or prepare movies for client • Follow established protocol for seizures and choking • Requirements and skills • Must be at least 18 years of age • Have a valid driver's license with a registered/insured vehicle • Ability to pass a background check • CPR/first aid certified • Ability to adhere to health and safety standards • Physical endurance; must be able to reposition and at times lift a 145 pound adult female1 To be considered for this opening, please submit the following by e-mail: • 1 page statement detailing a) why you are a good candidate for this position and b) your experience with the responsibilities listed above, with particular emphasis on non-verbal, quadriplegic and epileptic clients • resume/job history • copies of any relevant certificates • 3 references
