This role will report to the Testing Support Supervisor, with clinical oversight from the Nurse Manager. This role requires flexibility to work standard 8-hour clinic shifts on Monday-Friday, with occasional nights and weekends.   What you would do: Assist with the evaluation and care of patients seen at Kind Clinic, including, but not limited to: preparing patients for examination, taking vital signs, verifying patient information by interviewing patients, and recording medical history.  Provide direct nursing care to patients, including the provision of lab services, and the distribution of medications and treatments according to the organization's clinical SDO's  Conduct patient physical examinations according to accepted standards of care and within the definitions of the Texas Nursing Practice Act.  Teach and counsel patients concerning health assessment and care including prevention of disease, disability, hygiene, and health maintenance in a safe, affirming, and culturally appropriate manner.  Provide clinical training to new Testing staff and volunteers and relevant feedback to the Program Manager regarding training progress.  Adequately reviews and prepares charts prior to seeing patients in clinic.  Serve as a mentor to testing staff and volunteers.  Act as a liaison and collaborate with Patient Support Center RN team as needed.  Follow organization’s clinical SDOs, policies and procedures when interpreting lab results, sending lab results, sending medication prescription or scheduling treatment appointments.  Follow Texas DSHS notifiable condition reporting requirements related to in-clinic diagnoses of presumptive primary syphilis and acute HIV.   Prioritize work tasks and services and completes tasks in a timely manner.   Maintain accurate, clear and concise progress notes, problem lists, and medication lists.   Communicate appropriately and tactfully with staff, patients, partners, and community.   Actively engage in a quality improvement culture within department/organization and participate in identified quality improvement activities.  Participate in staff, planning, in-service, and other meetings as needed.   Perform other duties as assigned.  Sharing and presenting critical updates and medical information to outreach testing team.   In a safe, affirming, and culturally appropriate manner, teach and counsel patients concerning health assessment and care including basic hygiene and health maintenance and prevention of infection and disease.  Maintain a clean work environment in the treatment room, Including organization of the Med locker, Medical Waste Bin, Examination Bed, and Storage cabinets.  Conducts inventories to track the supply of medications/medical supplies and orders more when required.  How you would describe your skills: You have a passion and connection to the communities we serve You “love” what you do, you seek to serve the mission Listening is one of your key strengths You love team building You feel comfortable with technology and learning new software You are the model of the organization’s values and people can readily point to you as an example of how to ‘be’ You balance People and Process You have an attention to detail but can see the big picture You value great benefits and a mission driven work culture Compensation This position is classified in salary grade 46, with a base hourly pay range of $32.00 to $34.00, based on your qualifications and relevant experience. Under general supervision of the Nurse Manager, the Charge Nurse provides professional nursing skills utilizing the nursing process in the delivery of patient care. Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates the care for assigned patients. Serves as a patient advocate within the health care system. Requirements Education: Graduate of a school of professional nursing. Experience: Three years of nursing experience preferred. Licensure/Certification: Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas, or immediately eligible. Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of employment, before patient care is administered independently. Advanced Cardiac Life Support required within 90 days of employment. Frequent: standing, walking, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling & reaching. Occasional: sitting, bending, squatting, climbing, kneeling, & twisting. Visual and hearing acuity required; Color vision required for perceiving changes in patients’ skin color and colors of medicines and solutions. Work is mostly inside, with good ventilation and comfortable temperature.
