The Opportunity The Senior Event & Partnership Associate is a dynamic, results-driven professional who will play a crucial role on OPB’s engagement initiatives team. They will be responsible for planning, execution, and oversight of our engagement initiatives, partnerships, and events in partnership with the Director of Strategic Engagement & Events. This role will have a direct impact on audience and member experiences, expanding OPB’s content across the region, and developing pipelines for revenue and audience growth. This person understands the importance of OPB in the community and works effectively with the team and OPB volunteers to ensure our engagement initiatives reflect OPB’s longstanding reputation and public service journalism. The Senior Event & Partnership Associate will be an on-site event expert and will develop systems for event management that are inclusive of: volunteer management; partner and vendor relations; venue communications; catering; brand awareness; and engagement experiences. The Senior Event & Partnership Associate is comfortable speaking to a variety of stakeholders and has a holistic people-first approach. As OPB continues to develop our event and engagement program, this person will be a crucial thought partner to the Director of Strategic Engagement & Events. This employee will also work closely with the Community Engagement Coordinator to communicate and develop project management schedules for engagement initiatives. In partnership with the Director and Coordinator, this employee will support event budgeting, supply inventory, project management, and marketing collaborations. OPB is a member supported media organization with a strong commitment to our mission and values. The individual selected for this role will keep those values central to their work. Responsibilities 75%: Execute OPB’s engagement initiatives and events • Develop and implement OPB’s engagement initiatives, bringing together stakeholders from across the organization and externally to ensure smooth, efficient engagements and maximize OPB’s impact and content reach • Successfully execute day-of event management, including but not limited to: supply management, vendor coordination, volunteer management, executing sponsorship benefits, and venue coordination. This specialist will also coordinate with OPB’s sound engineering team and content staff as needed for day-of logistics. • Partnership with the director of strategic engagement and events to manage communications and logistics with vendors and partners, including agreement and contract negotiations • Partner with OPB’s marketing and digital teams to collaborate on engagement initiative needs, such as graphic and asset management, coordination of day-of engagement recording plan, and social media distribution • Work closely with community engagement coordinator to develop project timelines and determine task assignments to ensure smooth experience from engagement initiative inception to post-event analysis • Work closely with the manager of volunteer programs to coordinate volunteer needs, maintain an ongoing schedule of communications and timelines for efficiency, and develop volunteers • Work directly with security manager to support OPB’s engagement initiatives’ safety across the region • Collaborate with stakeholders internally to track, measure, and update metrics for OPB’s engagement initiatives • Work with the director of strategic engagement and events on post-event analysis to monitor, track, and report on engagement metrics to the team and OPB staff 15%: • Manage effective communications with stakeholders – internal and external - about upcoming opportunities for partnership, events, content-centered features, and public engagements • Work with the community engagement coordinator to manage the team’s event supply inventory and develop systems and organization for managing and innovating OPB’s supply needs 10%: Other Duties as assigned • Support for OPB’s membership and development events • Draft communications in partnership with the community engagement coordinator Minimum Qualifications • 4 years of full-time progressive professional experience organizing and implementing a variety of events (education may be considered in lieu of experience for some of these years of experience. • Minimum of two years working on hands-on, audience-focused events, or commensurate work experience. • Ability to project managing events, including event production, vendor management, day-of coordination, and volunteer management. • Demonstrated experience organizing cross-team, complex events and developing cross-team collaborations. • Experience developing and managing teams of volunteers. • Demonstrated record of leadership and collaboration under high pressure. • Experience developing and managing event budgets. • Holistic audience-first outlook of organizational engagement strategy and creative thinking for new initiatives. • A strong commitment to OPB’s public service journalism and community impacts. • Enthusiasm for the mission of OPB. Preferred Qualifications • Experience with ticketing and event platforms such as Eventbrite, Webex, etc. • Experience with audio and visual set ups and technology in a variety of venues. • Skilled in developing an events process for ease of execution. • Experience with venue and partner relations, and working directly with venues. • A test-and-learn mentality when approaching event strategy and execution. • Experience working with development teams for event operations and revenue generation. • Supervisory experience. • Bilingual in English and another language, preferably one spoken in communities in the Pacific Northwest (for example, Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Vietnamese and Russian). She likes nature, and enjoys outings to parks, the zoo, shopping at the mall, and the Rose Garden. She loves arts & crafts, and would love her personal assistant to craft with her. Spirituality and family play a large role in her life, and her personal assistant may need to assist her to attend weekly congregation services. She is respectful of all beliefs, and asks that her staff extend the same respect to her. She is friendly and direct, but needs staff to be patient and give her time to fully communicate her thoughts. You will also work together on household chores, cooking, attending medical appointments, and running errands. She needs substantial assistance with showering, dressing, taking medications, shopping, cooking, physical therapy, and using her adaptive equipment. You’ll work two shifts per week totaling 42 hours: 2pm Sunday through 8pm Monday and Friday 8am-8pm. *You’ll also work your regular hours on Agency holidays.
