The mission of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribal Department of Public Safety is to protect life and property, maintain order, investigate crimes, enforce all applicable laws and ordinances, protect natural resources, enforce Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribal Fishing, Hunting, and Forest codes, investigate violations, arrest and issue citations on violators within the boundaries of the Port Gamble S’Klallam Reservation and within the boundaries of the Point No Point Treaty Area.
The Port Gamble S’Klallam Tribe, originally known as the Nux Sklai Yem or The Strong People, are descendants of the Salish peoples with ancestral ties to the Kitsap Peninsula that date back at least 1,000 years. Many of the Port Gamble S’Klallam’s members—totaling over 1,400—live on the Tribe’s reservation, which is located on the northern tip of Kitsap County in Washington state, near the neighboring towns of Kingston, Poulsbo, Indianola, Hansville, Port Gamble, and Bainbridge Island.

Salary is competitive with range dependent on experience and individual qualifications.
JOB SUMMARY
The Family Health Advocate serves to enhance and protect the quality of life for tribal members within our service delivery area, through outreach to Early Childhood Education program enrolled children/families in order to maximize the effective utilization of available health care, health education, disease prevention, dental, mental health and social services. The position operates under the direct supervision of the ECE Director and in partnership with the Health Clinic.

EDUCATION AND CERTIFICATIONS:
-High School Diploma or equivalent- Required. Prefer A.A. degree or enrollment in college level classes.
-Health Services Certification (thru NHSA Academy)- Required within the first six months of hire
-First Aid CPR Certification. Food Handler’s- Required.
-Washington Driver’s license- Required
-Cultural Knowledge- Strong knowledge of history, traditions, language and lands of the S’Klallam Tribe.
EXPERIENCE:
-At least two years working in an early childhood or health services program providing direct client services
-General Office Skills: Basic clerical skills, strong record-keeping and filing.
-Personal Computer Skills: Intermediate computer skills are required, as well as the ability to learn varied data entry programs (i.e. Child Plus)
