At 87 years of age, I have reluctantly begun to sell some of my collection of vintage British sports cars. A few months ago I listed and sold my 1953 MGTD, but the interesting part of that experience was that in the background of the photos of the TD was my ‘57 TR3 and even though it wasn’t for sale at that time, I was getting a lot more interest in the Triumph than the MG. It was such a gorgeous example of that model that I just couldn’t part with it at that time. Well, the reality’s of my life and age situation have settled in and Ive had accept that I must continue to pass on another of my valued collection. So, to those of you who expressed such interest in the Triumph, here he is. Notice the use of “he”. Compared to my collection of MG’s it’s a brute of a car, performance wise, it has the later 2.2 Iiter TR4 engine and its all syncro transmission linked to the rare, original factory overdrive resulting in a six speed configuration. Cosmetically, it’s amazing as it’s still dressed in its rare factory red on red color scheme including the original red leather seats, door panels, dash with white piping trim. Only the original carpet has been replaced by me with the correct Moss Motors kit. The steering wheel has been replaced with a Moto Lita wood wheel but the original factory wheel is still with the car. All electrics are in good working order, plus the addition of an electric cooling fan and twin driving lights at the front bumper. Chrome is in beautiful shape. It is nearly rust free throughout the body and underside. Tires are in the original whitewall style and are practically new. The white top and side curtains look to be original and are in great condition. It also has a black vinyl full tonneau cover. Overall it’s in an excellent show and driving condition. It will be missed by me, but my ten car collection is simply more than I can handle and maintain at my age. The price is $25,000.00, O.B.O.. Additions photos to follow.
