One room in sunny, spacious East Oakland house available Oct 1 ($971/mo) Our beautiful house in East Oakland is looking for one new roommate, available Oct 1. We are on the top floor of a duplex on a quiet dead-end street with epic views, good light, and picturesque windows opening on views of great trees and birds. The unit has a spacious open layout, with dishwasher, in unit washer/dryer, fireplace, shed, attic storage, as well as indoor bike parking. There are three bedrooms and one bathroom in the house. The available room is approximately 10’ by 10’ and faces the front yard with a large bright window. We also have a nice forest-y backyard with a fire pit, seating, and lots of trees. Lots of room to garden and spend time outside, if desired! We’ve been here for years and we like our neighbors and our neighborhood and each other. Our landlord is prompt, and has a relationship with us. We have ample street parking and are 15 min. bike ride to downtown Oakland, and an 8 min ride to the lake. The house has front steps and is not accessible. A little about the roomies: Hi! I’m Shruti (he/him) I’m a 27 year-old South Asian trans man who is also a softie, nightowl, and extrovert. I work at a collectively-run bike organization. I’m an ex-writer/filmmaker so I love TV, movies, and pop culture. I’m also into cooking, bikes, and crafts. Between work, family, friends and random projects, sometimes it can feel like I’m running around a lot. When I can, I love to nest and recharge/veg out at home. I value vulnerable, direct, and honest communication. I’m looking for someone who is not conflict-avoidant, big on direct verbal communication, and flexible. I’m also looking for people who have alignment around values, are happy to pitch in around the house, and want to cultivate a home space that is welcoming, warm, and tidy.  Although I’m open to all walks of housemates I would love to share this great housing set up with other QTBIPOC folks.  Hello! I’m Nuxia [nu-sha] (they/he/she)! I’m 27 y.o, Taiwanese, born & raised in the bay area. I’m a performing & recording artist, professional working musician, and music producer. I teach privately and at a music school as a piano/voice teacher, as well as run a music studio/event space in Downtown Oakland. In my free time I love being in nature, spending time with friends, playing nintendo games, drawing, reading, and watching creepy/scary movies & TV. I have a very busy schedule and I really value alone, peaceful home time to ground and take care of myself. My strengths when living with me include direct communication and consistently tidy and clean living habits. I would love to find someone who communicates directly and is open to creating a warm and safe home environment with us.  YOGURT (affectionately known as “Yogi”, among many other nicknames) is Nuxia’s 5-year old kitty. She’s a beautiful lynx point Siamese. sassy, a complete diva, sweet, playful, friendly, needy, spicy at first with new people but warms up with time. She does not get along with other animals, so no other pets allowed please! COVID We take COVID safety seriously and are seeking a roommate who does as well. We are both vaccinated and double-boosted, and are cautious and communicative about our risk/exposures. We ask that all household members take each other into consideration as they move through the pandemic. We consistently mask indoors in public. What it costs Rent is $971 plus a $1,000 security deposit. Utilities (PG&E and cable/internet) are pretty variable based on the season, averaging around $125-$190/person/mo.
