POSITION SUMMARY: Focus Interpreting is seeking a skilled CART (Communication Access Realtime Translation) Captionist to join our team. As a CART Captionist, you will be responsible for providing real-time captioning services to ensure accessibility for individuals who are deaf or hard of hearing. RESPONSIBILITIES: Provide accurate and timely real-time captioning during meetings, presentations, and other live events. Utilize CART software and equipment to create clear and readable captions that effectively convey the spoken content. Collaborate with clients and event organizers to understand specific needs and tailor captioning services accordingly. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all guidelines regarding sensitive information during captioning sessions. Continuously improve captioning skills and stay updated with industry standards and practices. REQUIREMENTS: Proficient in English with exceptional grammar, punctuation, and spelling skills. Experience in CART captioning or a related field preferred. Strong typing skills with a minimum typing speed of 60 words per minute. Excellent comprehension abilities and the capacity to process spoken language quickly and accurately. Attention to detail and the ability to work under pressure while maintaining high standards of captioning quality. Lead and manage the on-site leasing, maintenance, and office staff, fostering a high-performance culture. Ensure the community is well-maintained, safe, and compliant with all regulations. Supervise vendor contracts, invoices, and service agreements to optimize property performance.
