$27.70 Per Hour The Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S) Coordinator implements and monitors industrial environmental, health, and safety programs. The EH&S Coordinator also ensures the workforce is trained and performs industrial operations in accordance with federal, state, and local regulatory laws and regulations, provides regulatory consultation to the production workforce, performs audits and inspections of work processes and industrial equipment and compliance assurance, reports non-compliance or hazardous conditions found and, recommends effective action. This individual also conducts investigations into unplanned events regarding emergencies including but not limited to injuries, hazardous materials, spills, or fire and smoke incidents, while creating and disseminating comprehensive reports of the investigation to management and contractual oversite. Requirements Must be able to recognize, evaluate, and control occupational safety hazards as well as enforce company safety procedures, rules, and assist in educating employees in the area of work and personal safety Must have knowledge of applicable regulations and US Navy Standard items Must have excellent written and oral skills; able to communicate effectively with all levels of the workforce Must be proficient in the use of PCs and word processing, spreadsheet, presentation, desktop applications, and electronic mail programs Must be a certified OSH 5400 Instructor Must be able to work any shift Must be a US Citizen Must be able to acquire a DBIDS credential Benefits CTS offers a comprehensive benefit packet to eligible employees. Position Summary Plan, implement and supervise project safety in accordance with Federal, State, and local Health and Safety regulations, and Environment (HSE) regulations, site safety and corporate policies. Key Responsibilities Attend jobsite Pre task meetings and meet jobsite supervision independently to identify critical work activities requiring work plans and assist with the development of the work plans prior commencement of work activities. Oversee critical work plan activities to ensure we are following the approved work plan. Perform jobsite inspections, review safety related paperwork, and ensure the scope of the pre task plan matches the scope of the daily work and current operations to verify jobsite compliance. Interview employees to see if they are adequately trained and have the necessary tools and PPE required for the tasks being performed, verify all equipment inspections are done by employees using equipment. Ensure field operations are in compliance with Current OSHA regulations, Murray Company Policies and Owners or General Contractor’s rules as specified by contract. Assist with training as needed for the projects specifically to ensure all employees on site have the required training needed discuss upcoming training needs with the project team and assist in scheduling classes. Train crew members in personal fall arrest/ restraint systems, scissors lift operations, powered industrial truck operation, personal protective equipment, power tool safety, confined space entry, and any other safety training required by corporate policy. Conduct daily jobsite safety and Pre task audits required by contract. Assist in updating the certification Training Data Base to ensure all training classes are updated and records are available for employees onsite. Inspect all rigging while on the jobsite to ensure all is safe for use. Assist with accident and incident, near miss investigation for the jobsites and develop safety alerts as a result thereof. Ensure there is a root cause analysis performed and develop mitigation methods when necessary. Foremen and superintendents are to write reports but assistance may be needed when investigating and finding the route cause. Provide appropriate documentation to the Corporate Safety Department and GC once approved. Accompany any injured worker throughout any medical treatment that may be necessary to ensure the employee gets proper care and that the injury/care is properly managed. Ensure appropriate management of work-related injuries and proper care for injured employees. Develop and implement procedures to eliminate hazards and situations as those discovered through lessons learned and investigations from prior incidents. Recommend corrective actions and/or disciplinary procedures for violations of HSE rules, procedures. Review and record all required job site safety documentation created by foreman to ensure compliance corporate policy. Coach and correct when needed. Assist in new hire orientation as needed. Conduct work area surveillance inspections and air sampling tests for welding operations as needed for specific work. Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) Specialist III Reports Directly: Plant Manager Location: Warren, Michigan SCOPE OF ROLE The EHS Specialist III is a hands-on, individual contributor role responsible for leading and executing EH&S activities at the Warren location, ensuring the safety of all employees and the protection of the environment through compliance with all federal, state, local, and Corporate regulations and policies. The incumbent will partner closely with operations leaders, HR, and the Regal Business Systems (RBS) Manager to ensure program integration into all aspects of the business. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Drive a management-supported and employee-driven safety culture to proactively eliminate safety hazards through achievement of daily/monthly/annual safety goals. Achieve significant improvement to top quartile performance in EH&S KPIs including incidents, near misses, risk scores, audit findings, etc. Ensure timely communication on critical metric and incident reporting, incident reduction activities, training, and employee involvement. Participate in front-end process engineering events focusing on risk assessment, evaluation of new processes for safety and ergonomic considerations, and review of facility layouts for potential EH&S issues. Actively lead, participate in, and sustain EH&S continuous improvement/kaizen activity.
