Litigation Associate, 1–3 Years’ Experience Location: Everett, WA (Hybrid — Partial In-Office and Court Appearances as Required) Firm: Cascade Counsel Hours: Full-time, exempt (Part-time ramping to full-time also considered) Comp: $75,000-$105,000/yr + Originations, Bonuses, & Benefits DOE Cascade Counsel is seeking a detail-oriented, intelligent, and motivated Associate Attorney with 1–3 years of experience to join our growing team in Everett, WA. The ideal candidate has experience in Landlord-Tenant law and has an interest in a client-focused practice that helps to serve the local and broader community. Cascade Counsel is a mission-driven law firm committed to delivering high-quality legal services to clients who need them most. While this position will have a strong focus on landlord-tenant law, Cascade Counsel also has a broader practice that includes real estate, business, and employment matters. We serve individuals and organizations with professionalism, responsiveness, and compassion. Key Responsibilities: * Draft and serve notices to and on behalf of tenants in compliance with Washington State and local landlord-tenant laws. * Represent landlords and tenants in unlawful detainer and housing-related proceedings, primarily in Snohomish and King County courts. * Prepare pleadings, discovery, and legal correspondence with a high degree of accuracy and professionalism. * Conduct legal research and provide clear, practical legal analysis. * Assist clients on real estate transactions, business formation, contract issues, and employment matters as needed. * Use legal technology and case management tools effectively. * Embrace and leverage AI in day-to-day legal practice effectively. * Work independently and manage a varied caseload while collaborating with your supervising attorneys, support staff, and fellow associates. Qualifications: * Juris Doctor (J.D.) from an accredited law school. * Licensed to practice law in Washington State. * 1–3 years of legal experience, with demonstrated experience in landlord-tenant law. * Practical experience drafting legal notices, preparing court filings, and attending hearings related to evictions or tenant disputes. * Familiarity with real estate transactions, business formation, employment law, or contracts is a plus. * Strong desire to assist clients facing financial hardship through creative methods of representation. Ideal Candidate Qualities: * Trustworthy and reliable. * Communicative with both clients, colleagues and staff. * Detail-oriented. * Responsive. * Fast learner who can adapt quickly to new challenges. * Self-motivated and able to manage workload independently. * Technologically fluent, with comfort using legal practice, research and case management tools: (1) Lexis +AI / Protege, (2) Lawmatics, (3) Chat GPT, (4) Microsoft 365, (5) Zoom, and (6) Windows. * Willing and able to work in a hybrid model, including in-office presence in Everett as needed and frequent court appearances in Snohomish and King Counties. * Willing and able to travel for appearances as needed on occasion. Compensation & Benefits * 100% employer-paid insurance: Health, Dental, Vision, Life, and Disability. * 5% employer 401k contribution; no match required. * Reasonable billable hours target only 1,250/yr; bonuses for exceeding. * Flexible 40-hour work week. * Unlimited PTO. * Billable hours credit for qualifying pro bono work. * Mileage reimbursement and billable hours credit for travel time. * Other perks: (1) Use of business cell phone or Zoom phone app, (2) use of dedicated business laptop, (3) $500 equipment budget for additional office equipment that you may retain, (4) use of shared legal and personal assistant(s), and (5) business credit card.
