Procon now seeks a Junior Construction Estimator for a long term opportunity in the Washington D.C area. This role requires various skills and experience as listed below.
Requirements
Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in construction estimation.
Experience supporting vertical construction, utility, and/or infrastructure projects.
Familiarity with complex program environments, including development/review of Integrated Master Schedules and analysis of TIAs/COs.
Strong verbal and written communication skills for stakeholder engagement and reporting.
Estimating proficiency using multiple structures and formats: UNIFORMAT and CSI divisions.
Working knowledge of cost databases such as RSMeans.
Ability to pass an HSPD-12 background check.
ASPE (American Society of Professional Estimators) or AACE International certification (e.g., CCP, CEP).
Experience on federal facilities programs and large, multi-phase projects.
Responsibilities and Duties
Prepare conceptual, schematic, design development, and construction-level estimates with clear bases of estimate and documented assumptions.
Perform change order pricing and evaluate contractor proposals, including detailed analysis of cost build-ups and schedule impacts.
Develop Rough Order of Magnitude (ROM) estimates to support planning for construction projects, A/E studies, and maintenance work.
Conduct market research (labor, materials, equipment) and integrate findings into unit prices, assemblies, and escalation.
Establish scope for bidding and estimating; draft clarifications and RFIs to ensure comprehensive subcontractor/vendor coverage.
Produce accurate quantity takeoffs and material pricing from drawings and specifications.
Track planned vs. actual cost and time performance; identify variances and recommend corrective actions.
Collaborate with schedulers to assess Time Impact Analyses (TIAs) and Change Orders (COs) within Integrated Master Schedules (IMS).
Communicate estimate methodology, risks, and deltas through clear written reports and stakeholder presentations.
