




Position Summary: The salary range for this position is $21.43 to $25.34 hourly. This is a part-time (approximately 17 hours per week, not to exceed 69 hours per month), permanent, classified, overtime-eligible position with the Pierce College District. This position reports directly to the Tutoring Center Manager and requires regular and consistent attendance. Instructional Technicians perform tutoring and departmental administrative functions to support students in their academic skills development and success. Responsibilities include facilitating 1:1 and small group tutoring across modalities (in-person, online, and in the classroom), record-keeping, promoting academic support services to students, working collaboratively and communicatively with supervisor, colleagues, staff, and faculty, using a variety of online learning platforms and software. Model equity-centered professional attitudes and behaviors that equalize educational opportunities and promote an environment of diversity, equity, and inclusion for all students Develop handouts or other learning materials and tools for use in study sessions Review course material and syllabus to stay on pace with curriculum and instruction delivery Email or post Announcements to students regularly with success tips, resource information, upcoming engagement opportunities, reminders, and generally encouraging messages Log and journal all student interactions using program software system Maintain confidential records, ensuring that ethical and legal guidelines are maintained Program support Provide guidance, professional development, or mentoring to hourly staff Foster collaborative relationships with faculty and staff partners to increase student performance Develop supportive group structures that empower tutors and mentors to meet their maximum potential Maintain program database and scheduling systems with high degree of accuracy and timeliness Utilize Canvas LMS and Microsoft Teams in support of continued professional development Ensure all members of team understand what it means to be a PASS team member, their role in the supporting students, and how to navigate PASS policies, processes, and practices Leads and trains entry level tutors in strategies to accommodate alternative learning styles and disabilities. Provide coaching guidance, tutoring through challenges so that they are building their own problem-solving skills Maintain a servant leader approach that builds leadership skills and empowers all members Required Education: Some college-level coursework at an accredited college or university. Required Experience: Experience working with students who have been marginalized/minoritized, including those who may be economically disadvantaged, first-generation, and/or first time in college Demonstrated ability to work effectively with a diverse community with a high degree of customer service Commitment to engaging in the advancement of equity, diversity, and inclusion in higher education and to serving historically non-dominant students Ability to effectively juggle competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Teams Special Requirements: The successful candidate must consent to and pass a criminal background check after a conditional offer of employment.
