Several of my current or former students are performing professionally in well-known local bands, have completed graduate degrees in guitar performance, or have been or are currently professors of guitar in colleges or universities throughout the Tri-State region. I’ve been an adjunct guitar and music theory professor at the university level (undergrad and graduate) for many years. I teach in a comfortable setting in my home studio near the Meadows Casino / Tanger Outlets in Washington, PA, or online via "Forte," a new platform designed specifically for musical instruction. Any combination of in-person or online instruction is possible and can be switched just minutes before the scheduled lesson. I’m also an active high-level performer, with a resume too long to list here — but I'm happy to send upon request. Many years as guitarist for the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, Civic Light Opera, Pittsburgh Musical Theatre, and many other top tier performing organizations. Several years touring and local performing experience with rock and cover bands. As for my academic background, I was graduated cum laude from Boston's Berklee College of Music with a Diploma in Professional Music (1979), hold a Master's Degree in Music Theory from Duquesne (1987), and was engaged in post graduate studies in Music Theory at the Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music (1987-90). I created WVU's first program of guitar studies, leading to the Master's Degree in Performance, where I taught from 1994 to 2018. I am currently Professor of Guitar at Waynesburg University.
