Band Looking for a Keyboard Player and/or Multi-Instrumentalist (Vancouver)

addressLeverich Park, 4400 NE Leverich Park Way, Vancouver, WA 98663, USA

Description

We are a three-piece act based out of Vancouver, WA that is looking to enhance and expand our sound with some keyboards and/or a jack-of-all-trades type of musical collaborator. At present we have guitar, drums, bass, and two singers and we perform live about once a month. Here are the salient details: The MUSIC: We bill ourselves as a rock band. We pitch original songs, but we keep our live sets sprinkled with some favorites to help with audience engagement. The music carries elements of folk and blues, tends to be uptempo, and we take our time with the arrangements. Inspirational artists include Tom Petty, The Beatles, Pink Floyd, Dire Straits, and some heavier Soundgarden-ish stuff. We are not necessarily trying to go retro, but we do draw from some older sources. We are more of a “Song” band than a “Jam” band, but that does not mean we don’t open up every now and then. The COMMITMENT: We perform in the area about once a month. In the summer we try to hit outdoor venues and the rest of the year its mostly clubs. Occasionally we take bookings for parties and private events. Yes, we get paid. No, it’s not a lot-Nobody is quitting their day job. Rehearsals are once a week on Sunday. They are organized…I typically release a practice itinerary mid-week and we spend our time together having fun, but getting a lot of stuff done. The PEOPLE: We are all in our ‘50’s. We have families and jobs which remain our top priorities. This is not a political band, but it is very much a “Love your neighbor” band; if that is a political statement for you this might not be the best fit. Everyone has decades of performing experience and professional gear. Drinking is moderate at most and any other drugs are expected to go unnoticed. The GOALS: We like the life balance of our current performing schedule and plan to keep it. We do aspire to cultivate a following and play larger venues when we step out. We have also started on recording a full-length vinyl release of original songs. We have done basic tracks for about half of it. The other half is still in an arranging stage. There is time for a new brother-in-arms to make a creative stamp on the output, but we are moving forward every week. The EXPECTATIONS: Joining an existing band can be awkward for some people. Yes, we will incorporate some songs you want to do into our set and we will accommodate some of your creative arrangement ideas…BUT we expect you to learn our repertoire first. This will mean learning some songs independently before we even rehearse together. For our part, we can provide recordings (Both studio recordings and field recordings from live performances), chord charts (Sorry, I don’t write music notation but we can do this cowboy-style), and lyric sheets if interested. An audition would be conducted by providing a short list of songs (With recordings and chord charts), allowing you to select 3-5 choices from that list, and then coming in and showing us what you can do. We want to hear your musical contribution AND we want to meet/hang a bit to insure we are mutually compatible. The name of the act is 1,000 Year Flood. We maintain a website, a Facebook page, and an Instagram account. Those are the best ways to get a taste of what we are doing.
