Preschool Teacher Assistant A Teacher Assistant at Holy Apostles Christian Montessori Preschool is responsible to the Preschool Director. Under the direct supervision of the Lead Teacher, the Teacher Assistant will help plan and implement the classroom curriculum. Primary Duties The Preschool Teacher Assistant responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following: 1. Help implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum. 2. Help maintain a safe, clean classroom environment. 3. Assist the Lead Teacher in childcare supervision, helping with crafts, activities, playground supervision, cleaning and other tasks. Knowledge/Skills/Education • Proven use of sound judgment including the handling of confidential matters. • Proven ability to communicate in a positive, proactive, clear and concise manner, interacting respectfully with students, parents, volunteers, teachers and other staff. • Ability to effectively meet the physical requirements of the position in a normal classroom setting which includes normal walking as well as walking out of doors engaging with active children. • Ability to regularly lift items weighing up to 30 lbs. • Assistants are encouraged to complete/ maintain a CDA credential and/or other professional development training courses, including First Aid/ CPR. • High School Graduate or equivalent required. All employees are required to pass a criminal background check prior to start of employment. Job Type: Full-time, Monday-Friday, 30-40 hours/week, 8:00AM-5:15PM Salary range - $21-$24/hour depending on degree or experience earned in ECE.
