Responsibilities: The adjunct faculty member is responsible for maintaining academic standards and professional expertise in a particular discipline. The individual is expected to act in a professional manner in all activities related to the academic role and in interactions with colleagues, students, and peers. There is no guarantee of continuous employment.  The adjunct instructor will teach to a diverse student population. Course timing is at the discretion of the academic department offering the course.  Adjunct faculty will be made aware of the timing of the course prior to the offering of an official contract for the course.  In some instances, flexibility in course timing may be available.   The list off duties below represents minimum expectations of all faculty: Attends an adjunct faculty orientation with the Associate Dean within the first semester of teaching at North Park University.  Adheres to University Rules and Procedures, which reflect Federal, state, and local laws that govern the educational process.  Participates in campus‐wide activities, meetings, and events when possible and/or at the request of the department chair/division director/dean.  Is readily available to the department chair/division director/dean.  Prepares syllabi, course materials, and supplemental materials as needed.  Maintains accurate records of student attendance, assignments, and course grades.  Completes required midterm and final grades in accordance with university policy and deadlines.  Teaches all scheduled classes on the assigned day of the week and time unless otherwise specified by the department chair/division director/dean.  Demonstrates a commitment to encourage student growth and learning. Integrates techniques which support a diversity of perspectives in the classroom and encourages equity and inclusion.   Uses appropriate technology to enhance instruction and the student learning experience. Ready to utilize Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, and other Microsoft applications to support instruction. Ready to utilize a learning management system, such as Canvas, to encourage student engagement.  Documents available office hours in the course syllabus.  Promotes and maintains a positive and safe educational environment, free from harassment and discrimination (disability, harassment).  Complies with all aspects of the contractual agreement.  Requirements Master’s degree in the discipline, doctorate is preferred.  Experience teaching in higher education or equivalent experience.  Demonstrates professional development and subject matter expertise using current and effective teaching techniques.  High level of competency as it relates to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging in the classroom.  Maintains current licensure or certifications, as required.  Typically provides own transportation to the University or technology to access an online classroom.

Qualifications: · Minimum doctoral degree in occupational therapy or a related field and awarded by an institution that is accredited by a regional accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (USDE). · Initial registration by the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy (NBCOT). · Current and unencumbered licensure in the state of California. · A minimum of four (4) years of documented clinical experience in more than one practice area relevant to the curriculum of the university’s occupational therapy program. · Preferred clinical experience working with adult populations in inpatient or outpatient rehabilitation, acute or subacute settings, skilled nursing facilities, hand therapy or orthopedics, or adults with physical or neurological conditions. · Desire to engage in scholarship (e.g., scholarship of application, scholarship of teaching and learning). · Experience in the management and development of faculty and/or staff. · Knowledge of accreditation standards and processes, as defined by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE). · Superior written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills in working with diverse constituencies inside and outside the campus community. · Skill in planning and implementing projects with vision, creativity, energy, and collegiality. · Ability to meet the minimum requirements of accrediting, state, and federal agencies for education, work experience, and certification/licensing to perform in the stated position. · Knowledge of institutional, accrediting, state, and federal standards, laws, and/or regulations for higher education. · Facility in using computer technology systems current in higher education.
