Harlem Children’s Zone (HCZ) — a world-renowned education and poverty-fighting organization based in New York — seeks an enthusiastic, dedicated, and mission aligned Cheerleading Coach to support our Promise Academy Athletics program. The Cheerleading Coach will bring a passion for the mission of Harlem Children’s Zone: break the cycle of intergenerational poverty with comprehensive, on-the-ground programming that builds up opportunities for children and families to thrive in school, work, and life. The Cheerleading Coach will join our Promise Academy Athletics team that fosters self-confidence and personal and social development in a safe, nurturing, and educational environment. Here’s 7 Things You Need to Know. Requirements Minimum Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent; Associates or better preferred. Who you are A commitment to the mission and programs of HCZ Experience working with youth and adolescent population Bachelor's degree and at least two years of coaching experience Must have strong knowledge and skills in cheerleading Ensure the cheerleading curriculum is structured, age-appropriate, and has clear learning goals Solid understanding of cheerleading rules and safety guidelines AACCA or USA Cheer certifications and credentials are highly preferred Cheerleading competition experience is a plus Must be able to travel to away games or events Must have strong leadership and organizational skills, excellent writing and communication skills Positive, enthusiastic, collaborative, flexible, and approachable attitude Ability to effectively engage and motivate students What you’ll do Develop, implement, and execute the cheerleading curriculum Create a cheerleading program that will include choreography, cheers, stunts, and gymnastics Prepare and coordinate routines for games, pep rallies, cheerleading competitions, and special events Communicate and work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents Monitor and report on student progress and performance Collaborate and consult with staff on student performance in cheerleading activity and schoolwork Maintain ongoing communication with Athletics Program Director Develop positive relationships with students that promotes wellness, growth, respect, and self-esteem Act as a positive role model for students Perform other duties as assigned Schedule Fall/Spring: Monday-Thursday 2 PM- 7:30 PM Friday 2 PM-7 PM Summer: Monday-Thursday 11 AM-4:30 PM Friday 11 AM-4:30 PM Potentially working Saturdays or Sundays is required, depending on the sport & game schedule.  Benefits As a member of the Harlem Children's Zone team, you will join a supportive and inclusive community dedicated to helping children, families — and our staff — thrive.   Please take a look at our Part-Time benefits below.   Our exceptional Part-Time benefits include:   Career advancement  Paid sick leave  Employee referral bonus   Physical wellness discounts  Commuter benefits  Additional Benefits (Discounts on flights, hotels, theme parks, concert tickets, and more).
