Multi-skilled person for residential remodel projects (Berkeley)
859 Contra Costa Ave, Berkeley, CA 94707, USA
Please read the entire post before replying. We are looking for a multi-talented person with experience in residential remodeling work. The projects are located primarily in the East Bay, from Richmond to Oakland. The ideal candidate will have experience in multiple trades and be available to start immediately. Must have reliable transportation and own basic tools, conduct yourself in a professional manner, take pride in your work, pay attention to detail, and have a productive mindset. Compensation for this position depends on experience and skill level. The more you can do professionally with little to no supervision and using your own tools, the more your time is worth. Pay ranges from $20/hour for someone with little or no experience but who is willing to learn and grow in this industry, to $35/hour for someone proficient in multiple trades, with their own vehicle and tools. Higher pay is possible, but not starting out. The work will mostly consist of the following. We don't expect you to be an expert in everything, but have a positive attitude and be honest about your skills, as they will become apparent quickly. The more tasks you're comfortable performing, the better. TRADE SKILLS - Attention to detail (this is important) - Skillful demolition (the ability to remove house components without destroying everything around them) - House clearing and cleanup - Interior and exterior painting (there's a lot of this, so solid painting skills are required) - Basic framing knowledge and skill - Cutting and installing sheet goods - Drywall repair (taping and texture matching are a big plus) - Stucco repair (texture matching is a plus) - Door and window installation - Interior and exterior trim installation - Tile installation - Deck repair and refinishing - Plumbing (we don't expect you to be a professional, but being able to join water and waste piping with proper direction is a plus) - Electrical (we don't expect you to be a professional, but being able to install boxes and pull wire with proper direction is a plus) PERSONAL SKILLS - Be clean and organized in your person and work - Wear professional attire - No substance users - Be respectful and work well with others (this is important) - Be reliable, show up on time, and be ready to work - Be honest about your skills; nobody knows everything, and producing poor-quality work is more costly and diminishes your value Our projects are VERY time sensitive, meaning we don't have time to do things twice. If you feel you are a good fit to join us, please send me an email with your resume, telling me about yourself, your experience, and your skills. This can be included in the email body or as a separate document. This is important: replies containing only a name and phone number asking me to call you will be ignored. It doesn't have to be a super detailed list, but it shows you are paying attention, and we can follow up with a phone conversation and an in-person meeting. Thank you
