As Logistics Legal Counsel, you will provide timely legal support across our Smart Logistics (SL) business division, requiring expertise in supply chain management and transportation law. You will draft, review, and negotiate commercial contracts for multimodal transportation and warehousing services while managing legal risks through regulatory compliance. To learn more about Samsung SDS America, Inc. please visit www.samsungsds.com/en/logistics/logistics.html Responsibilities: Draft, review, and negotiate complex logistics contracts covering multimodal transportation, warehousing operations, and other commercial agreements Provide expert legal counsel on carrier liability, freight claims, warehousing liability, bill of lading terms, and transportation documentation Manage transportation and cargo claims, including drafting demand letters and settlement agreements Support business development through RFP responses and contract negotiations with customers, carriers, and logistics partners Ensure regulatory compliance by monitoring and interpreting federal, state, and local regulations relevant to transportation (DOT, FMCSA, FMC, OSRA 2022), warehousing, and privacy laws Balance legal risk with business objectives through timely decision-making and strategic recommendations based on comprehensive legal analysis Develop legal resources and training including contract playbooks and compliance education for internal stakeholders Maintain key external relationships with outside counsel, auditors, insurance providers, and regulatory authorities Collaborate across global teams working effectively with stakeholders across different time zones and culture Support additional legal needs including HR matters, corporate governance, joint ventures, and dispute resolution as required Perform other duties as assigned or needed Requirements J.D. from ABA-accredited law school and active membership in California Bar in good standing Minimum 4 years of legal experience in transportation, supply chain, or logistics (law firm and/or in-house) Specialized knowledge of transportation regulations, including FMC rules, OSRA 2022 provisions on demurrage/detention, warehousing liability frameworks, and international shipping requirements   Strong communication skills for cross-functional collaboration and executive reporting Business-oriented legal approach with ability to provide practical solutions that balance risk and business objectives Excellent analytical capabilities with self-motivation and independent problem-solving abilities Technical proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, legal research tools (Westlaw, Practical Law), and adaptability to learn contract management systems (Cello) Willingness to travel up to 20% for site visits, contract negotiations, and dispute resolutions Work Location: Hybrid (WFH + Onsite minimum 3 days per week) 17785 Center Court Drive South, Cerritos, CA 90703      Physical Demands: The position requires the ability to talk and hear while performing the duties of this job The position requires the ability to stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms  The position requires dexterity to write and use computer keyboard and mouse The position requires multitasking and solving complex issues in a fast-paced environment This position requires the ability to occasionally lift office products, materials and supplies, up to 20 pounds Benefits Samsung SDSA offers a comprehensive suite of programs to support our employees: Top-notch medical, dental, vision and prescription coverage Wellness program Parental leave 401K match and savings plan Flexible spending accounts Life insurance Paid Holidays Paid Time off Additional benefits Samsung SDS America supports your professional development and growth in your future career.
