Professional Care Giver & Household Support (Newtown)

ABOUT THE ROLE: We are seeking a highly capable, compassionate, and flexible caregiver to support our 68-year-old father recovering from an ischemic stroke. He is fully capable of self-care (ex: walking, bathing), but we need extra support. This is a unique hybrid role combining companionship, light nursing (taking BP, coordinating with primary care doctor), household assistance (and potential light executive assistant tasks). You’ll play an important role in enhancing his quality of life and supporting his recovery and independence. SHIFTS/HOURS: - Monday through Friday, from 4pm to 8pm - Weekends: 7:30am to afternoon or evening (Note: Time slots are flexible) KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: - Provide warm, engaging companionship, and encourage light activities together (e.g. walking, listening to music, conversation) - Assist with prepping and cooking meals - Administer medications - Run errands: groceries, pharmacy, local returns, etc. - Light housekeeping, kitchen cleaning, and organization (Regular cleaning handled by professionals) - Manage tasks like online ordering, returns, household projects, appointment scheduling, basic computer/admin work, and more - Coordinate logistics and schedules amongst others in the family - Stay alert to fall risks or signs of stroke recurrence; act quickly if needed QUALIFICATIONS: - Trained in Basic Life Support (BLS) - Experience with Medication Administration - At least 1 year of experience in caregiving, nursing, or similar supportive roles - Strong communication skills; organized and tech-friendly BONUS QUALIFICATIONS: - Stroke Care Certification or experience with stroke recovery - First Aid + AED - Mental Health First Aid - Home Health Aide (HHA) certification IDEAL CANDIDATE TRAITS: - Reliable, kind, flexible and proactive - Detail-oriented, capable of managing diverse responsibilities - Fast learner, organized - Comfortable with both laid-back and fast-paced tasks - Bonus if you enjoy music (especially guitar) and landscape design and gardens TO APPLY: If you are interested in making a meaningful difference in a family's life while spending time with a bright, music-loving individual, please reply and let me know why you're interested.
