Learn more: www.thelighthouse.com. About the role: As part of our AV Tech Team, you’ll bring technical expertise and a problem-solving mindset to support content creation at the Brooklyn Campus. You’ll manage the setup, operation, and maintenance of AV equipment across studios, events, and activations, while also helping members make the most of our production spaces. This is a hands-on, guest-facing role where you’ll combine AV know-how with hospitality to ensure every creator has the tools and support to produce their best work. Here’s what you’ll do day-to-day: Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot audio, video, and lighting systems. Set up and break down AV equipment for daily use, productions, and events. Conduct routine maintenance and minor repairs to keep systems in top shape. Assist members in using studio equipment, providing instruction and troubleshooting. Support Events and Production teams with technical requirements for activations. Provide tours and demos of studios and AV systems for members and guests. Reset studios after use, ensuring spaces are clean, safe, and ready for the next booking. Collaborate with Campus Support to keep studios and AV spaces organized. Stay updated on new tech, tools, and workflows while sharing knowledge with teammates. Participate in ongoing training to sharpen AV and production skills. Here’s what we’re looking for: 2+ years of AV experience in event spaces, film/TV, theater, or similar. Working knowledge—or eagerness to learn—of audio systems, lighting, cameras, projectors, and software. Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt in a fast-paced, creative environment. Hospitality-driven mindset with a member-first approach. Curiosity for learning new technologies and sharing expertise. Strong communication and interpersonal skills. Physically capable of lifting up to 55 lbs and working on ladders when needed. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 55 lbs. Comfortable working on ladders or elevated platforms. Flexible availability including evenings and weekends. Mobility across campus and production studios. Job Responsibilities ● Identify and diagnose audiovisual presentation issues and equipment failures. ● Provide remote and onsite support/troubleshooting assistance and guide non-technical theater and venue staff, communicating step-by-step instructions in understandable terms. ● Complete routine and emergency onsite equipment service and preventative maintenance, including but not limited to equipment installation, consumable and part replacement, deep cleaning of projection system and optics, and device firmware updates and backups. ● Perform routine calibration of video/imaging and audio equipment, including but not limited to image luminance/color calibration, image geometry/focus adjustment, graphic equalization, synchronization, and SPL measurement of audio channels. ● Ensure the highest industry presentation quality standards are met at high profile film premieres, screenings, and other special events. ● Daily travel throughout the New York metro area and occasionally out of town/out of state. Mandatory Qualifications ● Read, interpret, diagnose and affect repair of semi complex electronic equipment, e.g. printed circuit boards, power supplies, multiplexing systems, amplifiers, etc. ● Provide technical guidance and training for above to other technicians. ● Printed Circuit Board (PCB) / Electronics Repair Skills Minimum Qualifications ● 3+ years’ experience operating/servicing professional audiovisual equipment. ● Comprehension of AV system schematics, signal flow, and modern audio and video formats. ● Experience with AV and electrical test equipment, including but not limited to: light meters, colorimeters/spectroradiometers, oscilloscopes, real-time analyzers (RTA), SPL meters, signal generators, and multimeters. ● Demonstrate modern computing skills, including experience with Windows and macOS, and competencies in word processing, spreadsheets, data entry, and research. ● Experience configuring and troubleshooting basic wired and wireless networks. ● Excellent verbal and written communication skills. ● Ability to work diligently, calmly, and professionally, under tight run-of-show deadlines. ● Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. ● Flexibility in scheduling with a willingness to work nights, weekends, and holidays (paid) depending on business needs. ● Ability to engage in physical activity, including lifting (up to 50lbs), standing for long periods, walking up and down stairs, and climbing ladders/scaffolding. Must be authorized to work in the United States.
