The Estimator will also be able to prepare and present estimate documentation, as well as, track and analyze data to reduce gaps between estimates and actual cost. \r\nEssential Functions:\r\n Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, etc. to complete various checklist/spreadsheets related to a project. \r\n Review takeoff process with Jr Estimator and ensure the checklist/spreadsheets are created for the project. \r\n Compile counts/quantities to create bill of materials (BOMs) as part of the request for quote process (RFQ) \r\n Enter counts/quantities into estimating software. \r\n Review RFQs from material vendors and sub-contractors for scope discrepancies and accuracies. \r\n Manage in subcontractor outreach including good faith efforts. \r\n Represent Royal Electric in meetings with vendors, General Contractors, Owners, and Subcontractors. \r\n Review requests for information (RFIs) provided by Jr Estimator \r\n Participate in preparing and organizing bid packages.\r\n File management throughout the entire duration of the estimates/bids\r\n Assist with final bid review \r\n Own “hand-off” to project management team after project is awarded including attending project kick off meetings when needed.\r\n Coach Jr Estimators for successful accomplishment of their own key results \r\n Complete misc. projects as assigned. \r\n \r\nWho you are: \r\n Strive to be great - You're eager to build and master your skills by seeking out - applying - training and new experiences. Position Description:
The Estimator, will skillfully read and interpret plans, proposals and other documentation to develop bids and successfully negotiate budgets. The Estimator will also be able to prepare and present estimate documentation, as well as, track and analyze data to reduce gaps between estimates and actual cost.
Essential Functions:
Analyze drawings, specifications, proposals, etc. to complete various checklist/spreadsheets related to a project.
Review takeoff process with Jr Estimator and ensure the checklist/spreadsheets are created for the project.
Compile counts/quantities to create bill of materials (BOMs) as part of the request for quote process (RFQ)
Enter counts/quantities into estimating software.
Review RFQs from material vendors and sub-contractors for scope discrepancies and accuracies.
Manage in subcontractor outreach including good faith efforts.
Represent Royal Electric in meetings with vendors, General Contractors, Owners, and Subcontractors.
Review requests for information (RFIs) provided by Jr Estimator
Participate in preparing and organizing bid packages.
File management throughout the entire duration of the estimates/bids
Assist with final bid review
Own “hand-off” to project management team after project is awarded including attending project kick off meetings when needed.
Coach Jr Estimators for successful accomplishment of their own key results
Complete misc. projects as assigned.

Position Overview:
An Estimator supports and works with management, operations and estimating staff in the review of project plans, requirements and specifications. Must have the ability to arrive at a meaningful and fair estimate utilizing preliminary information. Requires strong communication skills in order to obtain information from Engineering and Estimating groups.
Must have the ability to read blueprints, specifications, and other related documents.
Must perform specific, routine operations to facilitate the work of others.
Must be able to interface with employees within immediate department. Must have the ability to interface with other departments and local vendors as well for the purpose of exchanging information.
Must be persistent in pressing for complete conceptual information and use foresight for “filling-in” some inadequacies. Definition of scope and intent of conceptual estimates is the most difficult task of estimating. Estimates are vulnerable when information used to develop conceptual estimates is poor, in a state of evolution, or incomplete.
Must be able to converse with technically oriented personnel regarding the nature of the task the estimator is charged to assign costs to. Ability to ask pertinent questions to assure reliability of the information used in the estimate.

Position Summary
The Plumbing Lead Estimator partners with preconstruction team through the development of cost estimates, value management, and estimate proposal reports. This position is responsible for preparing and providing complete Plumbing Estimates for the company in partnership with the Division Vice President and reports directly to the Division Preconstruction Manager and / or Division Vice President. The successful candidate will have a strong background in commercial plumbing estimating, extensive knowledge of industry standards and regulations, and the ability to identify and engage with prospective clients.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare complete Plumbing estimates / proposals from start to finish utilizing Company’s latest Estimating platforms. Establish projects estimating database, perform take-off, solicit vendor and subcontractor’s quotes, recap the estimate, and prepare proposal letter with qualifications/exclusions as applicable.
Prepare project proposals/presentations which exhibit Murray Company’s capabilities (i.e. coordination, engineering, etc.) and specific understanding for the project being pursued.
Provide guidance / Oversight to Support Staff as necessary specific to project estimates / proposals.
Identify and manage client entertainment based on work opportunities in pursuit of ideal engagements aligned to business goals and objectives. Pursue business opportunities with existing customers and new customers on a select basis.
Review project proposals to determine scheduling, funding limitations, alternate means and methods, procedures for design, staffing requirements, and allotment of various resources to project phases.
Ensure fairness and integrity in contract and vendor negotiations when needed.
Develop and maintain relationships with subcontractors and partners.
Attend and participate in both company and outside sponsored events and business seminars.
Qualifications
Required
5+ years of experience in commercial plumbing estimating
Advanced proficiency in Quickpen / Auto Bid estimating platform
Advanced proficiency in Excel
Experience with project based Estimating data bases
Preferred
Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office products and other software products (softphones, shared drives, etc.)
Physical Requirements
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk.
Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
Must have visual acuity to see and interpret detailed construction drawings on computer screens and on paper.
Must be able to traverse uneven surfaces on project sites and climb stairs to access project site temporary offices.
Compensation
$85,000.00 - $125,000.00 per year
