We are looking for a motivated and engaged Construction Superintendent to join the Pennon Construction team in Seattle, WA to supervise a broad spectrum of project types. We are currently seeking experienced Superintendents with Shell and Core, Industrial Concrete Tilt-up, and/or Tenant Improvement backgrounds. You will be working closely with others in a team-driven environment, effectively working in partnership with your Project Manager and Project Engineer to achieve timely and quality completion of construction projects. A proven track record of honest and ethical business practices is a must - as is an enthusiastic attitude and a desire to learn. What You'll Do: - Oversee and manage field operations for commercial construction projects in various segments. - Work in conjunction with the Pennon office team, including Project Managers and Engineers. - Create and maintain a project schedule to achieve timely project turnover. - Coordination of on-site subcontractors, including materials deliveries and waste removal. - Resolve on-site project-related problems in partnership with the Project Manager and Project Engineer. - Prepare daily logs of the goings-on on-site, alerting the project team to major milestones and relaying potential critical path developments. - Be a part of project teams in varied project types and market segments. Preferred Qualifications: - 10+ years of demonstrated career growth as a commercial Superintendent. - Demonstrate a clear progression and development of responsibilities in previous positions. - Strong Leadership Skills. - Experience with ground-up concrete and steel construction, concrete tilt warehouse construction, and/or tenant improvements. - Firm understanding of common phases of Site Supervision: safety, quality control, estimating/constructability support, schedule, submittal and shop drawing support, process management and tracking, personnel supervision and evaluation. - Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite applications, including Excel and Project. The Earthwork Equipment Operator is responsible for operating heavy equipment to spread earth, grade terrain, or move dirt and rock. Duties and Responsibilities • Operate equipment equipped with blades in successive passes to remove topsoil, vegetation, or rocks or to distribute and level terrain • Complete mass overexcavation of sites per plan specifications, achieving proper moisture content and compaction • Safely operate various pieces of equipment including paddle wheel scrapers, rollers/compactors, loaders, dozers, skid steers, mini-excavators, etc. • Read and interpret grade stakes, site markings, and plans • Properly set up and utilize grade control devices to achieve grade tolerances per plan specifications • Always operate equipment safely including operating equipment in the vicinity of underground utilities (communication, power, natural gas, etc.) to avoid damage and injury • Installation and maintenance of BMPs and erosion control • Attend daily meetings to review schedule, production goals, and safety • Work safely at all times, observing all company policies, OSHA Regulations, and site-specific requirements and policies • Safely operate power tools (demo saws, compaction equipment, generators, air compressors, etc.) • Properly maintain equipment including daily pre and post inspections and daily greasing • Must have a collaborative attitude and willingness to perform any work that is required including general labor tasks which may include shoveling, lifting, etc. • Must be able to work overtime including Saturdays • Other duties as assigned Qualifications/Skills Required • Able to safely and efficiently operate equipment such as scrapers, rollers/compactors, loaders, skid-steers, etc. with experience in the heavy civil construction field • Able to read and understand plans and specifications • Able to check grade, read stakes and perform related math functions Physical Requirements Must be physically fit and able to perform job duties including: frequent use of hands, arms, legs and whole body; long periods of balance, standing or sitting; frequent walking, climbing, bending and/or lifting objects in excess of 50 pounds. Operators are subject to continuous bouncing, shaking, and equipment vibration. Must be able to work in all weather conditions including very hot, cold and wet conditions.
