Job Summary The Maintenance Aide is responsible for keeping buildings and property in clean and orderly condition. Perform heavy cleaning duties, such as cleaning floors, shampooing rugs, washing walls and glass, and removing rubbish. This position is responsible for maintenance and making minor repairs at all SCTCA facilities, including office buildings, outbuildings, and landscaping. This person may do the work directly or outsource and assist in coordinating contractors to complete the assigned project or task. This person reports to the SCTCA Human Resources Director and works closely with the Safety Coordinator. Examples of Essential Functions 1. Follow established safety rules and regulations and maintain a safe and clean working environment. 2. Service, clean, and supply restrooms, offices, and break room areas. 3. Gather and empty office trash daily. 4. Clean building floors by sweeping, mopping, scrubbing, or vacuuming them. 5. Follow procedures for the use of chemical cleaners and power equipment, in order to prevent damage to floors and fixtures. 6. Clean windows, glass partitions, and mirrors, using soapy water or other cleaners, sponges, and squeegees. 7. Receive and schedule maintenance and repair requests from departments and programs in a timely manner, making sure the initiating persons are notified of when their requests will be fulfilled. 8. Prioritize maintenance and repair requests according to urgency and availability of personnel, equipment, and supplies. 9. Do minor construction, installation, repair, and maintenance of structures and fixtures using carpenter tools, plumbing tools, and other hand and power tools and equipment as needed. 10. Maintain, repair, and/or replace defective equipment or parts as needed. 11. Will require traveling to other sites and buildings to perform maintenance and cleaning. 12. Observe strict confidentiality of any employee or client information or documentation that may be observed or learned during the normal course of business. 13. Other related duties as assigned by the Human Resources Director. Job Requirements and Qualifications Education: High School Diploma or GED. Certificates & Licenses: Valid California Driver’s License with driving record acceptable to SCTCA’s insurance. Knowledge Requirements: General knowledge of safety procedures and equipment typically used in cleaning and maintenance environments. Knowledge of machines, hand and power tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Knowledge of building materials used in the construction or repair of houses, offices, or other structures such as driveways, fences, septic systems, etc. General knowledge of safety procedures and equipment typically used in construction and maintenance environments. Ability to communication effectively in English, both verbally and in writing. Knowledge of Indian history, culture and politics a plus. Experience: Minimum of 3 years’ experience in cleaning or maintenance trades. Physical: Ability to exert maximum muscle force to lift, push, pull, or carry object; as well as, the ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials. Ability to lift and carry up to 60 pounds of weight frequently in the normal course of a workday. Conditions of Employment: Candidates are required to successfully complete required background check, including Live Scan and drug screening. Other Information In addition to the essential duties listed above the Maintenance Aide is expected to: • Communicate regularly with supervisor about department issues. • Demonstrate efficient time management and prioritizes workload daily. • Consistently report to work on time prepared to perform the duties of the position.
