Roy’s Waikoloa, located in the heart of Waikoloa Beach Resort, is seeking an experienced and creative Sous Chef to join our Ohana. As part of the Roy Yamaguchi family of restaurants, we are renowned for our innovative Hawaiian Fusion cuisine—blending classic European techniques, bold Asian flavors, and the freshest local ingredients to create a truly unique dining experience. For over 25 years, Roy’s Waikoloa has set the standard for sophisticated Hawaiian fusion fare. Our menu evolves with the seasons and showcases the best of Hawaii’s bounty, all served in a vibrant, team-oriented environment overlooking the Kings’ Course fairway and lake. As a Sous Chef for Roy’s Waikoloa, here’s a brief list of some of the responsibilities & qualifications: Key Responsibilities: • Leadership & Teamwork: Assist the Executive Chef in overseeing all kitchen operations, ensuring the team works cohesively to meet high-quality standards. • Menu Execution: Supervise and ensure the proper execution of all menu items, maintaining consistency and excellence in presentation and flavor. • Training & Development: Mentor kitchen staff, fostering professional growth and maintaining a positive team environment. • Inventory & Cost Management: Assist in inventory control, order supplies, and manage food costs efficiently. • Quality Control: Monitor and ensure that all dishes are prepared to the highest standards of quality, taste, and safety. • Innovation: Contribute to menu development by incorporating local ingredients and creative culinary techniques. ________________________________________ Qualifications: • Experience: Minimum of 2-3 years of culinary experience, with at least 1 year in a leadership role. • Culinary Education: Formal culinary training or equivalent experience preferred. • Skills: o Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, and food safety protocols. o Ability to work in a high-pressure environment while maintaining attention to detail. o Excellent communication and organizational skills. • Passion for Local Cuisine: Deep appreciation for Hawaii’s culinary heritage and local ingredients. • Team Player: A collaborative mindset with the ability to inspire and motivate others. _____________________________________________ Benefits: • $60K-$75K salary based on experience. • Health, dental, and vision insurance. • Opportunities for career growth and professional development. • A supportive and vibrant work environment in one of Maui’s most beautiful locations. Physical Requirements: • Must be able to occasionally lift and/or carry up to 50 pounds. • Must be able to push and/or pull up to 50 pounds. • Must be able to continuously stand and/or walk for extended periods on concrete surfaces. • Ability to repeatedly kneel, bend, crouch, and/or stoop throughout the shift as needed.
