RESPONSIBILITIES ● Operate a truck (up to 26,000 GVW) primarily in the five boroughs of NYC, Westchester and NJ ● Drive conscientiously, maintaining safe distances, avoiding accidents ● Read and understand signs, directions and maps in English ● Drivers are expected to be a part of the moving team, and may be required to load property from the origin onto the truck, unload property from the truck at the destination, and work with the foreman and helpers in placing items in the designated location at delivery ● Wrap, pack, unpack, lift, carry, stack, push, and pull a variety of household/office goods and customer belongings following company procedures ● Provide top-notch customer service as you safely move, pack and unpack client belongings ● Movers need to determine what materials should be used to wrap furniture and pack property in order to ensure it arrives in pristine condition ● Employees are also tasked with cleaning up after themselves (removing packing material rubbish, folding blankets, stacking dollies and the like) ● Ensuring goods are delivered to customers promptly through the utilization of strong route knowledge and professional service ● Inspecting vehicles and reporting any issues that may hinder the fulfillment of any customer deliveries ● Parking vehicles legally to avoid parking violations ● Utilize ELD (Electronic Log Device), familiarity with pre and post trip vehicle inspection procedures ● Loads and unloads packages from truck utilizing proper techniques for safety and efficiency ● Maintain professional and courteous demeanor when working with customers, colleagues and the public ● Maintain a satisfactory driving record and obeys all traffic laws ● Be prepared in uniform daily ● Other duties as assigned SKILLS ● Safe operation of a moving truck (up to 26,000 GVW) ● Capacities: The mental and physical abilities required to do the job. Stamina to lift heavy items (50lbs) repeatedly while climbing stairs, balancing, kneeling, crouching, walking, etc. Aptitude to read and understand the move day contracts, and further, the ability to relay and review with the clients. ● Attitudes: Every day is a new experience, a new challenge, a new client. A customer service oriented dispositions, the ability to follow orders and be dependable are required. Moving is very stressful; our employees need to be patient, dependable, and must care for our clients’ belongings as if they are their own ● Personality: Potential applicants must be true team players.
