Scope (responsibilities will part of scope): Quality Assurance Program Assistance requires the candidate to perform quality assurance and improvement functions in support of the OREM Quality Assurance Program and Quality Implementation Plan (QIP) requirements. Coordination with and execution of the OREM Integrated Assessment Plan/Schedule, as well as external DOE and contractor assessment activities. Conducting formal and informal assessments, up to and including leading Quality Audits as an NQA-1 Lead Auditor. Support with corrective action tracking system(s), data entry, data retrieval, data review and analysis, and compiler of ES&H and QA reports and postings. Integrated Safety Management Systems Verifications coordinator and/or assessor (contractors and DOE). Operational Readiness Reviews and Readiness Assessments coordinator and/or assessor. Assessment and oversight activity tracking system administration, maintenance, and user support. Assessment planning, schedule coordination, team participation and reporting. Surveillances, inspections, and audits. Preparation of inspection/assessment reports. Walkthroughs. Safety and health-related investigations. Conduct of Operations Program. For-Cause Reviews. Accident Investigations. Management Self-Assessments. Development and implementation of Quality Assurance Program Plans and related management system descriptions including 10 CFR 830.120 and NQA-1-related quality assurance documents. Development of organizational procedures or supplemental documents to support the OREM Quality Implementation Plan (QIP) and EM Quality Assurance Plan (EM-QA- 001, Rev. 1). Causal Analysis methodologies. Quality Assurance database administration, maintenance, data extraction and query (e.g., Microsoft SharePoint®). Reports and data analyses using statistical software. Corrective Action monitoring, validation, verification, and closure. Data collection for tracking and trending of issues and actions. Development and maintenance of tracking and trending systems, lessons learned and computer programs. Data analyses, data reporting, and general support for maintaining operational awareness. Integrated reporting of contractor and DOE performance and results. Ad-hoc and monthly status reports. Quality improvement support including management and independent assessment planning, scheduling, logistics coordination, technical review and preparation of reports to meet EM requirements for QA and Oversight; issues management support, and preparation of evidence packages. Quality control and quality engineering Requirements Minimum Associate of Science degree in Engineering or related field. Specific training in industry standards and DOE standards for nuclear quality assurance programs. Minimum 10 years’ experience in implementation of quality assurance programs Qualified lead auditor (ASQC, NQA-1, or ISO) Support to at least 10 documented assessments, 2 startup readiness reviews and 1 accident investigation, Expert knowledge of Word and familiarity knowledge of the other MS Office Suite products (Excel, PowerPoint, MS Project) Demonstrated experience with technical report preparation and data analysis A Department of Energy L or Q clearance preferred. Inspectors perform visual and dimensional inspection of precision parts and make quick, accurate pass/fail decisions on many types of optics including filters, mirrors, crystals, prisms, and lenses as well as mechanical components used in conjunction with optical components. Visual surface quality inspections are often performed under 100 watt bulb in low lit room. Although the location of the position is in Newton, NJ, from time to time it may be required to undertake duties at other Thorlabs locations.    Essential Job Functions include the following, but are not limited to: Introduction to visual and mechanical measurement of parts using metrology devices such as eye loupes, microscopes, calipers, micrometers, and indicators. Identify non-conformances through specified inspection methods. Ability to perform extremely detailed visual inspections on intricate and delicate parts occasionally performed under microscopes. Inspections are performed efficiently, with attention to detail. Low friction interface to peers/vendors/others in interaction with regards to inspection. Inspection of products against manufacturing prints. Handle and Clean Specialty Fiber Optics, Precision Optics, and mechanical components. Maintain proper records in our Manufacturing Database. Ask questions when instructions are not understood or clear.
