Description

We need a live streaming technician to fill in for us for a two day project in mid September in the LA area. You will be working with a production team that will give you a 1080i SDI cable that you will input into a Blackmagic ATEM switcher. We will provide the Blackmagic ATEM switcher. The output of the ATEM switcher will go to a Teredek “VidiU Go” live stream encoder with CORE bonding. The CORE bonding software interface will be setup with two CDN’s (live streaming providers) which will be Vimeo as the main and WOWZA as the backup. We will provide the two CDN’s plus the Teredek Video Go cellular bandwidth. You control The ATEM switcher with a PC running on vMix so you can see and record the feed coming from the SDI cable. The last part is you will be given two pre-recorded videos. Both pre-recorded videos will be in mp4 format. The first one is 30 minutes long that you will live stream 30 minutes before the show goes live. The second pre-recorded video is 30 seconds long that you will live stream immediately after the show ends with a fade to black. You will be given a headset for realtime communication with the production team director so you can give him a cue when the 30 minute pre-recorded video ends so he can go live and he can cue you when he ends the show with a fade to black. The pre-recorded videos playback device will be a second computer running OBS and sent to the ATEM switcher through a Blackmagic UltraStudio Monitor 3G adapter. We will provide the Blackmagic UltraStudio Monitor 3G adapter. The live streams don’t last more than 2 hours but you must arrive at least 5 hours early on the first day while the production team is setting up so you can setup and do sound check, test the SDI signal and confirm your headset to communicate with the production team director is working and coming in clear. We prefer to work with live stream technicians who do this for a living which means they own a lot of their own equipment. Pay is $750.00 per day.

Live Sound Engineer & Musical Director (Midtown)
306 W 38th St #1203, New York, NY 10018, USA
We’re seeking a versatile and motivated Live Sound Engineer & Studio Operations Assistant to join our team. This is a dynamic, hands-on role that goes far beyond just running a soundboard. You’ll be the bridge between musicians and the studio, ensuring sessions run smoothly from start to finish — both technically and operationally. In this role, you’ll work directly with artists to deliver high-quality live sound, while also managing front desk responsibilities, bookings, payments, and general upkeep of the studio space. It’s a perfect opportunity for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments, loves solving problems on the fly, and wants to stay deeply connected to NYC’s music community. If you're comfortable balancing tech work with customer service, can keep calm under pressure, and genuinely enjoy supporting musicians, you'll excel here. You won’t be sitting still — you'll be mixing, scheduling, fixing, cleaning, and creating a great experience for everyone who walks through our doors. In addition to your technical skills, we’re especially looking for someone who can also step into the role of Musical Director for our workshop bands, intensives, and performance-based programs. This means leading rehearsals, helping musicians prepare material, arranging parts when needed, and creating a supportive environment where players of all levels can grow and perform with confidence. You’ll collaborate with our team to shape curriculum and setlists, guide groups toward cohesive performances, and bring out the best in each participant — musically and interpersonally This dual capability — engineering and musical leadership — is central to what we’re looking for. The ideal candidate is someone who feels just as comfortable behind a mixing console as they do in front of a band, guiding musicians through rehearsals and helping shape great performances. If you’re able to balance technical precision with creative direction, and enjoy inspiring musicians while keeping things running smoothly, you’ll thrive in this role. Core Responsibilities Live Sound & Technical Setup -Operate and manage analog and digital mixing boards during live rehearsals. -Set up and test audio equipment (microphones, monitors, DI boxes, cables, amps, etc.). -Monitor and adjust sound levels in real time to meet the needs of musicians. -Understand and implement proper audio signal flow and stage layout for different setups. -Collaborate with artists to understand their sound preferences and deliver tailored mixes. Front Desk & Client Interaction -Act as the first point of contact for clients—both in person and via phone/email. -Use booking software to manage and coordinate appointments. -Confirm sessions, prevent scheduling conflicts, and maintain an organized calendar. -Process client payments (cash, card, and online), handle walk-ins, and keep accurate transaction records. -Respond to client inquiries with a helpful, professional, and upbeat attitude. Maintenance & Facility Support -Maintain cleanliness of all studio spaces, including bathrooms and common areas. -Perform basic handyman tasks (e.g., replacing light bulbs, securing loose cables, organizing gear). -Conduct regular checks on equipment and studio spaces to ensure functionality and safety. -Report or resolve any technical or facility-related issues promptly. Musical Direction & Program Leadership -Lead music workshops, band rehearsals, and intensives for musicians of varying levels -Arrange or adapt songs as needed to suit ensemble lineups -Run effective and encouraging rehearsals, helping musicians prepare for performance -Guide participants through musical development and performance readiness -Collaborate with staff on setlists, curriculum, and program goals -Provide musical mentorship and foster a positive, inclusive atmosphere -Assist in organizing and executing live showcases or final performances Required Skills & Qualifications -Live sound experience is non-negotiable: you must have hands-on experience running live sound in a studio, rehearsal, or performance setting. -Experience as either a gigging musician or recent graduate of a music program -Proficiency in operating both analog and digital mixing boards is essential. -Solid understanding of live sound equipment and troubleshooting. -Computer proficiency is a must (Google Workspace, booking systems, Sheets, Word, Excel). -Ability to multitask under pressure, especially during peak studio hours. -Strong interpersonal skills—you're just as comfortable helping a rock band check in as you are troubleshooting gear for a jazz band. -Strong work ethic and attention to detail, especially with time management, client service, and cleanliness. -Comfortable doing physical tasks: lifting gear, cleaning, organizing equipment. -Reliable and punctual—we depend on every team member to keep operations running smoothly. -Must be available to work PM shifts and both Saturday and Sunday. What We Offer -A vibrant, creative work environment where music is central to everything we do. -Opportunities to connect and collaborate with NYC’s diverse music community. -Hands-on experience with a wide range of gear and setups. -The chance to learn and grow in both technical and operational aspects of live sound. Please Note -It’s a multifaceted, customer-facing role that requires energy, flexibility, and initiative. -We are not considering candidates without prior sound engineering experience. -We are not considering anyone unavailable for weekends and PM shifts. -All staff are responsible for maintaining cleanliness in the studio. To Apply Please send your resume along with 3 references. Applications without both will not be considered. If we feel you’re a good fit, we’ll reach out to schedule an interview.
